VF-1J

The VF-1J is a step up from the VF-1A (the brown plane just about ever ensign flies in at first) Rick Hunter is assigned this plane the moment he gets into the RDF because of his high scores during training.
The VF-1J's main difference is the presence of two lasers on it's Battloid's 'head' and a more streamlined appearance. The VF-1J also appears to handle much better than a standard Veritech, and it is common for some Veritech Squadrons to be entirely made up of VF-1J's, one of these teams included the Vermillion Squadron lead by Rick Hunter, Ben Dixion and Max Sterling.
The VF-1J has the usal gatling gun and supply of missles on it's wings, how many missles there are depends on whether they are long or short range. Most of the Veritechs appears to have a mixture of both, or prehaps certain squadrons are equiped to deal with long range threats, while others short range.
Aside from the Skull-Squadron, all VT squadrons are lead by a VF-1J, the Skull Squadron been one of the Squadrons made up primarily of VF-J's, as only the best squadrons do.
There is no difference between the hieght of this plane than that of the VF-1A or 1S and to some extent the 1D.
The VF-1J also seems to be the Veritech of choice for the conversion from a conventional Veritech to a Super or maybe Armoured Veritech. This is probably due to the fact it is in between the VF-1S and 1A, so how it reacts will be a guide two how the other two types will.
The VF-1J all in all is a formidiable Veritech, is a well equiped enough to deal with just about anything the Zentraedi send it's way.
