The Messerschmitt Bf-109 fighter, heavily armed yet swift, was Germany's most effective combat aircraft during the early stages of World War II. The Messerschmitt Bf-109, in its many variations, was the most widely produced warplane of World War II.
An early jet plane, the Messerschmitt Me 262A, which flew at about 860 km/h (530 mph), was used during World War II.
