Some of you might ask the question, "I thought National Police Cadet Corps is only for Secondary Schools? How come NUS also has a unit?" The answer is:

In Secondary Schools, students join the Corps as cadets, undergoing training like foot-drill, campcraft, revolver shooting, adventure camp, etc.
In JC or Polytechnics, students join the Corps as Cadet Inspectors, assisting school units in the training of the cadets.
And finally in the University, we join the Corps as Honorary Officers! We assist OCs and teacher officers of school units in the running of their units, playing the role of an officer, guiding the Cadet Inspectors and cadets, planning and organizing activities, etc.

Then you might ask, "I was never a cadet of NPCC before, can I still join?" The answer is, "Of course you can!" All prospective Honorary Officers will undergo 2 weeks of intensive training in December to be a full-fledged Honorary Officer of the Corps, regardless of your 'background'. The 2 weeks of training generally includes 1 week of non-residential course at the NPCC HQ located at the Police Academy, where lectures, methods of  instructions, revolver shooting, etc are conducted; 5 days of Adventure Training on our Pulau Ubin campsite, where survival cooking, obstacles course, rafting, canoeing, orienteering, etc are conducted.

All we require of you is:
            1)    NUS matriculated student.
            2)    Enthusiasm and Commitment.
            3)    Sign up with us by contacting us.
            4)    Attend an interview.
            5)    Attend a 2-week Honorary Officer Basic Course in December.

After that, you will be given a choice of the secondary school unit which you wish to be posted to. School units normally function on Saturday mornings. If you have Saturday lessons, don't worry, the Deployment Officer will deploy you to our parent unit, NUS!

"So in NUS what do we do?" You will be involved in projects like fund raising, community work, planning of training programs, administration, sports day, etc. And all these are done on off-school hours.

Concerned about time commitment? As stated above, activities are normally held on Saturdays and off-school hours. Usually one week once. So it should fit nicely in your time-table. :)

Doesn't all these sound like many ECAs in a nutshell? That's right! Our range of activities is so wide that it stretches far beyond any ECA can offer. For example, do you get to shoot a revolver in any other ECA? Can you find any ECA which wears a smart uniform like ours? Can you find any ECA which offers so many variety of activities?

Time and tide waits for no man. So what are you waiting for? Call us up now and find out how you can be part of this extraordinary ECA!
