The Beer Page

Let us pray

Our beer

Which art in Barrels

Hallowed be thy drink

Thy will be drunk

I will be drunk

At home as in the local

Forgive us this day our daily spillage

As we forgive those who spillest against us

And lead us not into the practice of poncey wine tasting

And deliver us from alcoh-pops

For mine is the Bitter

The ale and the lager

Forever and ever

BARMEN

This is my page dedicated to the beers of Britain and BEYOND!!!

Here lies the secrets of many a different beer that I have given the "Steve's Beer" mark of approval to, due to my many exploits around the country.

I have lived most of my life near the town of Burton upon Trent, a brewing town, and in all acouts, (well in my view anyway!!!) the brewing capital of the world!!! There are loadza pubs per square km, so pub crawls are a frequent and easy, (well to begin with!!!), pastime, especially when there's nothing else to do!!!

Bass and Carlsberg-Tetley are probably the most famous, with Bass actually originating from there, whereas Carlsberg-Tetley's brewery is only one of many around (even if its one of the biggest!!!). Another "local brewery belongs to Marstons, who brew my all time favourite beer, and one that I was brought up on:- Pedigree Bitter----- RESPECT IS DUE.

Apart from the great beers back home, My parents own a caravan up north in North Yorkshire. Local beers include Theakstons, which is brewed in Masham (just down the road!!!) and the famous John Smiths at Tadcaster.

Anyway, here's

THE Guide to BEERS OF BRITAIN

PEDIGREE BITTER

I was brought up on this bitter for an early sweet innocent age, and it will always have a special place on my bar (if I had one, that is.

Brewed in Burton Upon Trent by the relatively small brewery Marstons, as their original, and best beer, it is pretty strong as they go at 4.5%.

BASS BITTER

Bass' main bitter is definitely a weel popular drink with "Regular" of the older generations as well as plenty of students up here too!!!

CARLING

Another Bass drink, made famous by the well cool adverts with the squirrell, the sun lounge contest, betwwen germen's and the good old brits, with the groovy logo of "I bet he drinks Carling Black Label.

I used to get well annoyed when Premier came out 'cos I'd go to the bar to ask for a pint of carling, and every time you'd get "Black Label or Premier (ohh so annoying!!!) but Bass rectified this "minor" problem by renaming it as just Carling recently (wehey!!!).

I personally don't like it too much but thats just me!!!

CARLING PREMIER

Gorgeous, sexy, but it'll give you the shits the next morning if you 'ave to much!!!

The more recent addition to the Carling namesake is a big hit with me. Not as fizzy as its predacessor, its extremely smooth, as well as cold, so it can be drank quickly without giving you the burps!!! This beer is also stronger than its previous (which is 4.1%) being a modest 4.7%.

CARLSBERG

GUINNESS

JOHN SMITHS

THEAKSTONS

A "northen beer" Brewed in Masham (pronounced Mas-ham for the uneducated!!!). This is a light bitter being onl 3.8% I think this is a great bitter to drink before a meal.
