Suppliers with web sites (mostly). This is in no way a comprehensive list. It is comprised of businesses with whom I have had a good experience and can therefore recommend.

• Paper & Ink Books
  
  1-800-736-7772. My favorite; the most complete line of calligraphy and illumination supplies.
• L. Cornelissen & Son
  
  Another favorite; lots of unusual stuff in this London-based store. Get the catalogue. I was fortunate enough to visit the premises when I visted London, and let me tell you, the place is like heaven to a calligrapher.
• John the Artificer
  
  Carries a wealth of medieval pigments in small sized-tubes rather than the huge amounts of pigments many other places want to sell you; also gold and gilding supplies.
• Thompson Conservation Lab
  
  Site offers some interesting articles and sells some interesting books and samples of manuscript inks. There is also a description of a two-week workshop on Medieval book production that I would do nearly anything (legal) to attend. So I guess I'll just have to start saving my pennies!
• John Neal, Booksellers
  
  One of the best sources for in-print boooks on calligraphy and illumination. Also carries a limited amount of supplies.
• ASW Express
  
  A more general supplier; has Windsor & Newton gouaches at good prices, free shipping, carries brushes, papers, gold leaf, et cetera.
• Pearl Paint
  
  Another general supplier. carries Holbein Designer and Acryla Gouache lines. Also brushes, papers, bookbinding kits, papyrus, et cetera.
• Nacso, Inc
  
  Another general supplier. Holbein, Talens, Marie's, & Yakka gouaches (wet) and Pelikan (pan) gouaches. Speedball, Hunt, dip calligraphy supplies and various brands of calligraphy fountain pens. Good prices on no-name papers, papyrus. Brushes, some leafing products, et cetera.
• Dick Blick
  
  Yet another general supplier. No gouaches indicated in the online cataloge. Has great range of watercolors, including some less expensive brands not carried by other supliers (this makes up for their higher prices on the better-known brands).
• Sinopia
  
  Pigments, books, leafing supplies.... excellent resource.
• Jerry's
  
  Still another general supplier; however, Jerry's has about the best range of materials of interest to scribes amongst the category. Casein paints, egg tempera, shell gold, et cetera: this is a catalogue worth getting.
• The Paper Web
  
  Deals exclusively in paper, very extensive selection.
• Fletcher Lee (Fletch's) BAD LINK

• Utrecht's
  
  Another general supplier, carries its own line of oils, acrylics, watercolors, and brushes--all of quite good quality. Also W&N gouaches, Sennilier pigments, and a pretty good range of paper. Nice clearance section on line. Speedball, Higgens, Pelikan calligraphy supplies.
