History
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded on November 12, 1922 at Butler University in
Indianapolis, Indiana. The Theta Lambda Chapter at the University of Virginia was founded on December 5, 1980.
This chapter is dedicated to the encouragement and promotion of high scholastic attainment, community service, and improvement
of the quality of our lives and the society in which we live. "Greater Service, Greater Progress is the slogan that serves as our
foundation for our objectives and activities. We take pride in our individuality as well as our sisterhood and we work hard to promote unity
within our black community.
Our past projects have been Reading partners, the Multiple Schlerosis Telethon, a charity stepshow with
other greeks for Charlottesville, HS, and various other community service projects.
