Beta Eta History


Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 16, 1920 and became a part of the University of Cincinnati in 1975 to form the chapter Beta Eta. The women of Beta Eta are dynamic leaders and true activist in everything from academics to the community.


Since the“Resurgence” in 1989 there have been ten lines that have crossed into Zetadom. Many have graduated and continued to spread their love in graduate chapters throughout the nation.


Beta Eta’s accomplishments included: winning the Black Awareness Contest sponsored by the Black Program Board in 1991, winners of the Black History Step Show in 1993 and 1994, and awarded Honorary Sorority of the Year in 1994 and 1995. In 1995-96 the bluetiful ladies of Beta Eta continued to be campus activist; facilitating numerous programs such as Rape 101, The Dating Game, “Give Me My Respect” and hosting Finer Womanhood Week in March 1996. The Women of Beta Eta are committed to service, thus participating in various fundraising projects, and hosting a family Zeta Phi Beta Sigma Jam in conjunction with our brothers Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. In 1996 Beta Eta Was awarded sorority with the highest G.P.A. Also in 1996 our chapter worked diligently with our graduate chapter, Beta Zeta Zeta in hosting the City Wide Baby Shower.

In the 1997-98 Academic year the Zeta Light will continue to blaze at the University of Cincinnati. In 1997 we continued with Rape 101 and The Dating Game. Watch for upcoming events such as Finer Womanhood Week 1998 and tutoring at Vine Street Elementary.
