--The Tennessean p. 6A, April 17, 1998
"WKRN-Channel 2 weathercaster Lisa Patton was caught in an emotional
situation when she spotted a tornado on radar and realized it was passing
directly over her home in Mount Juliet, knowing that her two children and
husband were in the house.
"I lost my composure for just a few minutes. I'm a mom first,"
Patton said. "I just needed to know they were OK. It was pretty
scary for me."
She also had to take charge of things when one of the station's reporters
got too close to danger.
"Brette Lea was on the air with a storm and lightning all around her.
I demanded that they pull her off. There was just too much danger,
too much lightning," Patton said, "I told them, 'Get that microphone
out of her hand.'"
