"Mount Juliet police sighted a funnel at the intersection of Nonavile Road and Highway 70 about 4pm.  The storm cell touched down minutes later at Marvin's Building Supply off Mount Juliet Road, where the roof on a large warehouse was stripped.  Another twister touched down near Carroll-Oakland Elementary School on Highway 231 North, six miles from Lebanon and at W.A. Wright Elementary off Highway 70 west of Mt. Juliet.  The school's roof was damaged, as was a mobile home near the school.  In Lebanon, a twister touched down near the intersection of Hartmann Drive and West Main Street.  Ten businesses [were] damaged, five mobile homes destroyed, about six homes badly damaged."

"WKRN-Channel 2 weathercaster Lisa Patton was caught in an emotional situation when she spotted a tornado on radar and realized it was passing directly over her home in Mount Juliet, knowing that her two children and husband were in the house.
"I lost my composure for just a few minutes.  I'm a mom first," Patton said.  "I just needed to know they were OK.  It was pretty scary for me."
She also had to take charge of things when one of the station's reporters got too close to danger.
"Brette Lea was on the air with a storm and lightning all around her.  I demanded that they pull her off.  There was just too much danger, too much lightning,"  Patton said,  "I told them, 'Get that microphone out of her hand.'"
