when u ask someone if their mad at you...and they don't reply back...u can pretty much assume they are. but , wouldn't it be fair to the other person if u would tell them you are mad at them, instead of ignoring themi mean , it doesn't hurt to tell them , "yeah im mad at you and here's why'...good friends would do that so they can mend any problems, but im trying to figure out why someone wouldn't respond to that question...they must be really mad or they're playing a cruel joke

A grammy is an award given out by the Recording Industry of America. This ain't the MTV awards by any stretch of the imagination. They take their stuff seriously. It's equivalent to the Oscars for movies. So for a long time they had a reputation of recognizing $ sales and not artistry but in recent years they have become more progressive. Not entirely, but a little bit. They gave out the first Native American music award last night and that's just dope. A few years ago eminem wouldn't have been nominated or probably even let in the building because of the backlash they would have received. Now they make an exception as long as they can make a speech on their idea of "artistry". And so where once a grammy didn't mean anything because they weren't recognizing, it still means something to get one when they do give credit where it is deserved.

As far as Eminem goes, music writers are like literature writers. Everything you write/say is not an autobiographical account. As a person writes from experience, a person can sing drawing from experience, but words do not translate to action. There is a separation between Eminem and Marshall Mathers and folks need to realize it. He has not shown any of the things he says on his records. He does not go around gay bashing and killing people. What? He assaulted someone pushing up on his wife. That sounds human, maybe even right, to me. As far as him not being deserving, that's objective, but to me he's still underground. Know your history.

But hey.. answer me this: If underground hip hop heads always run around saying EFF the Grammy's, how come all of them were rejoicing when the Roots won last year? If the Grammy's are so insignificant, why would giving the honor to the Roots be worth anything?

It's like letting the Ravens play in the XFL championship game and having them be ecstatic. I doubt that.

Merton is theorizing that social deviation in the United States comes from a mass culture that equates economic success as a essential value that those who fail to achieve become frustrated and thus become deviant (ie: commit crimes, retreat from the rest of society, etc.)

He also feels that though the US sells itself with "the American Dream" and the Puritan work ethic (hard work equals success), the actual path to economic success is not a simple matter of who is doing work and who is not, but rather who has the outlet to see their hardwork become fruitful.

An example of this is in current times revolves around the SAT controversy. Many protest its merit because they claim it is culturally biased (Euro) and that primarily those who have means to proper SAT preparation (such as Kaplan and SAT vocab in regular college prep currriculum) actually attain the desied scores. (Plainer English: poor people in bad schools will not do good in SAT, while rich kids who can afford Kaplan will succeed.)

let's say i met this "dope ass" mofo while i was working out late night at the gym. (that's another thing i always wondered about...why do all asian guys congregate at the gym late night?? it's like a gang...anyway, just wondering). So mr. dope ass gives me some tips about the nautilus machines and we strike up a quite intriguing conversation, making him seem even yummier than he already is. So the honest truth is- hey if u had to choose between a week of pure pumpin' ...orgasmic passion or a true friendship- then i'd probably choose the sex. NOT that i'm a huge slut or anything like that, but if i had to choose then that's what i'd probably do. Either way u'd make memories with that one person, but if u were to be friends with him/her...feeling that way about them that you do...then it would hurt too much to restrain yourself for a lifetime. now grant it... your other option does have its consequences too. u run into that person later on, and it could be really AKWARD or just...well REALLY AKWARD. but assuming that u never see "mr./ms./MRS. dope ass" again, then option number one seems like a winner to me.
