Current News, Issues, and Highlights facing Eta
Eta
Eta Eta is small in number right now, but it's on its way to become
the best chapter we've ever had in Irvine (probably since '94-'95
when we won Songfest, Go-Fly-A-Kite, Anchor Splash, Master Chapter
Award, and got third place in Greek Week).
The main reason for our number of membership being small right now
is because of our "House-cleaning" earlier this quarter. We basically
got rid of all the dead-waits and non-Pi Kapp material members in
our chapter and started with a "Core Group" of 6 brothers. We've
been recruiting quality men ever since and we're proud to bring up
our numbers from 6, to 15 solid guys.
Eta Eta is proud of the Fall '96 Lambda Pledge Class (Aaron, Justin,
Jonathan, Greg, and Mike) who are going to be initiated the second
week of Winter Quarter (initiates #82-86).
Our goal for next quarter is to have a 10-man "Mu Pledge Class" to
bring up our number to 25, and hopefully 30 by the end of the school
year. On the positive note, only two people are graduating this year
and our associate members are all freshmen.
Socially, we're going to have the best year in Eta Eta history.
We had a Halloween Exchange with Alpha Chi Omega and tentatively,
we have exchanges set for next quarter with Gamma Phi Beta,
Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Tri-Delta.
Our future goals are to defend our championship in Songfest (which
we'll be doing with Kappa Kappa Gamma), win Greek Week, do well
in soccer and basketball, and to establish more relations with the
Greek System and sororities (which we've been isolated from for
so long).
We also had the best football team in our chapter history last
quarter (being 3-0 at one point beating top teams such as Sigma Nu
and Phi Sigma Kappa).
Our soccer team is more than ready to take over next quarter!
Anyway, we've got a long way to go and a lot of work to do with
the chapter. But the important thing is our new attitude. We're
psyched up and we're proud to be Pi Kapps. And we are more than
ready and hungrier than ever to become the top house at UCI.
