Mr. Baker’s Philosophy of Teaching

Teaching is not telling the student what to know, what to do, or how to do it. Teaching is not standing in front of a class and writing on the board. It is not giving and grading tests. It is not homework. It is not textbooks.

Teaching is guiding; showing the student where to go and how to get there.

Teaching is coaching; finding the errors and correcting them, not making the student suffer for them.

Teaching is personal; helping students learn is the best way to assure that they will learn.

Teaching is patience; knowing that the student will get there if you can show the way.

Teaching is caring; giving the student what every teacher should give in the way that only you can.

Teaching is succeeding; recognizing that each perceived failure is an opportunity to grow for both yourself and your student.
