MAT 435 : Introduction to Mathematical Statistics


This course provides a foundation in probability and mathematical statistics for undergraduates and beginning graduates students. Topics include basic probability, random variables and their distributions, the normal distribution and its properties, moment generating function, sampling distributions, the central limit theorem, order statistics, estimation and testing of hypothesis. This course is especially useful for students planning on taking actuarial examinations or seeking to work in business and industry. Prerequisite : MAT 434
