***SPECIAL EDITION - 1997 SUMMER UPDATE***
Letter from the Officers | Annual Summer Picnic | Directions to the Picnic
Special Committee Members | Annual Rummage Sale
Dear Kappa Delta Pi Member,Summer is in full swing! There have been some great sun shining days. Over the past several weeks the officers have been working hard to plan exciting and worthwhile events for you to participate in this year. To start with, there is the Annual Picnic on July 26, that we hope to see all of you at. Secondly, the Annual Rummage Sale is scheduled for August 9.
Be on the look out for the Fall newsletter in September and mark you calendar with all the important Kappa Delta Pi dates. Remember, it is only through the active participation of all of our members that we can make positive accomplishments as a sorority. It is not a group of 8 officers. It is a group of hundreds. This is YOUR organization. Get involved, it will be a rewarding experience. GUARANTEED!
Fund raising events are being scheduled in order to accomplish our goals with RIF - "Reading Is Fundamental". This is a program where we, as members of Kappa Delta Pi, distribute books to disadvantaged children in our area. Often times this is the first book that these children can call their own. The program is a lot of fun and very rewarding to those members who participate. Last year alone, we were able to distribute over 1000 books to students in the Youngstown School System. The first fund raising event to work toward our goal is the Annual Rummage Sale on August 9. Other fund raising events include Barnes and Nobles Bookstore, T-shirts/sweatshirt sales and candy sales. Each event contributes to the success of the RIF program and to the organization as a whole. We need your help.
See you at the picnic and the rummage sale. If you have questions please call Melissa Rentz (President) at (330) 759-4591, Laura Kollat (Historian/RIF Committee) at (330) 533-0115, or Linda Watters (Secretary/Speakers Committee) at (330) 637-3122..
Sincerely, Your 1997-98 Kappa Delta Pi Officers
P.S. (October 7th, 4pm, in the Gallery is our first general meeting).
