LOGO FORECHECKING PRINCIPLE-

The Logo Principal is used to assist the forechecking unit to think
the same, differentiate when to apply aggressive pressure and when
not to in addition to not getting caught deep. It is mainly used by
the first forechecker but the whole unit must utilize it so they
think as a unit and not individuals. The opposing defenseman is the
player usually chasing the loose puck to initiate the breakout.
If he does not have control of the puck and is pursuing it while
the forecheckers are entering the offensive zone; the logo on his
jersey should not be fully visible so your forcheckers can forecheck
aggressively and go deep. Even if he has control and his logo is not
visible he is not facing up ice yet. Again, an aggressive forecheck
can be used. If the defensemen's logo is visible he is probably facing
up ice and read his options. In this case you don't want to go deep
and possibly get caught causing an odd man rush against your team.

GAME SITUATION:
Your team dumps the puck deep in the offensive zone and the opposing
defensemen is pursuing it. As your unit enters the offensive zone they
notice the opposing defensemen's logo in full view. This defensemen
is facing up ice and probably read all his options. Your units objective
now is to perform one of the forechecking systems you use where it forces
the opposition into an area occupied by your unit. The forechecking system
will now be more passive. So they will not pressure aggressively at this point.
