1987-88 was a bad season for Napoli. Though the team played probably the best championship ever, it was not enough to win, since in the last ten matches Napoli lost the five-points lead on AC Milan.
It was a real débacle, and the team in the last weeks got really few points and was defeated by AC Milan in the decisive match at the San Paolo stadium on May 1, 1988.
Anyway, in the first half of the tournament and in some matches of the second half, Maradona played an impressive soccer.
He played together with Careca, a great Brazilian striker, and the "MaGiCa" (it means Maradona, Giordano, Careca) was not enough to win our second title.
In this tournament Napoli ranked second in the league, and AC Milan won the title.
