(8/12/99) "the don" speaks:

Fencing at Binghamton University has existed as a club sport since 1988 and each year has been marked by improvements in its quality. The upcoming '99-2000 season will be no exception, as the new regime intends to continue the legacy of our highly esteemed former president, Sara Hurlburt.

The Club offers instruction to all levels of fencers and welcomes all beginners and new members. Fencing guru, former Olympian Neil Lazar, leads our team of experienced fencers who are always willing to share their wealth of knowledge. Exceptional training in each of the three major weapons is available.

Several tournaments are held throughout the year which offer Club members a chance to test their skills against other clubs and schools such as Hamilton College, Syracuse University, RPI, Stevens College, and the University of Rochester. In addition, the Club travels to many tournaments held within the region. Beginners can often compete in novice events until they feel comfortable fencing at higher skill levels.

The Binghamton University Fencing Club looks foward to a very successful year of fencing and hopes you can be a part of it!

Sincerely,
"the don"
