A mature team of Eli Gutman finishes Round 1 as "The Winter Champion" for the first time in 39 years (!), proving the pure coincidence of its surprising loss in Ashdod the last week; still, it was incredible that the guests showed totally nothing to confront the leaders, and the game was fully one-sided. After 28 minutes, the score was opened - Giovanni Rosso raised the ball into the box after a corner kick, and Idan Tal reached it before Ran Ben-Shimon, only to head it into the wrong net. Just before the break, a similar situation happened at the opposite wing - again, it was the high ball of Rosso, and Offer Talker slid it with his head to Jovic who had no problems, 2:0. 22 minutes from time, Jovic was substituted by the hungry and ambitious Liron Basis, who was knocked down inside the box by Tomer Ben-Yosef 10 minutes later on; Rosso converted a penalty. 6 minutes later on, the score was sealed, as Basis sent Dmitriy Ulyanov into a sweeping penetration, and "The Man Of The Game" finished it with a sharp shot from a hard angle.

This was truly surprising to see Hapoel Petakh-Tikwa starting well and losing it so much later on; on the other hand, Maccabee Haifa continued with its trend of improvement that started after the International tournament in Greece. The teams started with one great chance each - Yossi Benayoun (15) took a flat shot parried by a diving Shai Hess, and Nir Davidovich (25) flew all the way to parry the ball of Reuven Attar from under his left crossbar; Attar's shot was an arched high volley from the far sideline of the box, and had it gone in, it would have become "The Goal Of The Season" with no serious contenders to beat. 3 minutes later on, the hosts opened the score, when a quick combination of Gabor Marton - Eli Abrabanel - Walid Badir resulted in the latter's header to the close corner which Davidovich failed to stop.

Haifa's equalizer came in the injury time of the 1nd half, as Alon Mizrahi got a ball from Ibrahim Doro and tried to turn around, but was perhaps knocked down; while Mizrahi tried to run to the referee as to object the latter's nonchalance, Yossi Benayoun tried his luck and was stopped with a handball, also with no referee's reaction. The ball rolled to Radovan Romatko, and he raised it at half a height slightly backwards, where Mizrahi, desperate from his appeals, turned around and shot a powerful volley to the right corner of Hess from 14 meters, 1:1. This somehow knocked Petakh-Tikwa out of its coolness, and after the break, it conceded another 2 goals to lose unconditionally. 12 minutes after the break, it was Zhano's wide ball and Romatko's header to the bar that eventually fell to Alon Mizrahi's heading rebound, 2:1. Just 3 minutes have passed, and a quick combination of Keisi - Mizrahi - Romatko resulted in a 3rd Green goal. Slightly before the end, Haifa had an opportunity to score another goal, but a double miss of Yaniv Katan and Alon Mizrahi left the score intact. As it wasn't enough for Petakh-Tikwa, its stopper Viadin Kolosevic was sent off with his 3rd red card this season (!), for stopping Yossi Benayoun with a violent hook into his face.

Two completely different halves were seen in this game - one of Beitar and one of Ironi; finally, the defending Champions registered a victory. Ashdod, playing without injured or suspended Akakiy Devadze, Gadi Hazut and Eyal Almoshnino, conceded the 1st goal after just 7 minutes, when a free kick of Yossi Abuksis from the right wing found the diving header of Tamas Sandor; in just 2 minutes, a quick one-toucher of Shitrit - Salloi - Sevilla doubled the score. Another goal came from Sevilla, after Sandor's pass and Offer Shitrit's bad shot; finally, it was Shitrit himself to use another goal pass of Abuksis and to score his 14th goal to the net of an unexperienced keeper Shimon Zelig. And then came the 2nd half... First (55), Amir Shelakh knocked down Amir Turgeman, and the latter converted the penalty himself; 19 minutes later, Igal Zrihen, in an opening squad for the very first time this season, reduced the score further after Barukh Dego's corner and a total confusion in the hosts' box. Slightly before the end, Tamas Sandor was sent off with a 2nd yellow card, and Beitar nearly conceded another goal, but Itzhak Korenfein flew greatly to parry the killer of Barukh Dego.

Another devastating victory of Maccabee Tel-Aviv over the clearly inferior team, exactly like the last week. The guests hardly created any opportunities (except for the one of Yaniv Avvargeal, superbly parried by the veteran Alexander Uvarov), but tried to defend their net bravely; 34 minutes in the game, however, Avi Nimni headed the ball home after an assist of Alon Offir. Incredibly, during the next 11 minutes Kefar-Saba conceded 3 more goals (!), all from the headers and the legs of Andrzej Kubica (goal passes coming from Kefir Edri (38) and Alon Offir for the other 2 goals), who completely devastated his miserable personal guard Avigdor Itzhak. After the break the game was slightly irrelevant, but Maccabee still managed to score the final goal - this time, it was a combination of Michael Emenalo - Avi Nimni - Kefir Edri. 5:0, and the Yellows may only cry over the awful season start.

With the coach Andrei Bal fired and the new coach Shiya Feigenbaum still with no contract, screaming his instructions over the fence, the hosts were surprisingly full of motivation, unlike the very disappointing guests. Shuli Gilardi, "The Keeper Of The Week", made several great saves, and the incredible miss of Ehud Kahila from 5 meters helped to leave the score intact until 5 minutes before the break - then, a great pass of Shalom Tikwa found Ziv Kabeda inside the box, and the youngster overplayed Gilardi from 5 meters, 1:0. However, Herzliya managed to equalize - a corner of Yair Simhon was parried disastrously by the National squad deputy keeper Shavit Elimelekh, and the fresh substitute Vladimir Niederhaus, whose future in the team is still unclear, shot wholeheartedly a flat volley from 14 meters into an empty net between the fence of legs, 1:1. Niederhaus had another chance to score, but his close-ranger missed the frame by centimeters; Herzliya actually earned a penalty there, as Yair Simhon was knocked down, but the referee Yaacov Ben-Hemo decided to give Herzliya an advantage, which wasn't converted.

3 events worth mentioning happened in this catastrophic game - 2 red cards and one coincidental goal. The game was actually decided after a red card awarded to Uzi Ohayon for making a foul and then cursing the referee (30); the guests were clearly better, but could translate their advantage into a goal only once, as Victor Pacha slid the ball by head to Udi Shnorman, who scored the winner. Eyal Avrahami of Hapoel was sent off as well (80), for his 2nd booking.

After just 2 minutes of play, a quick combination of Georgi Daraselia - Moti Fleeter - Samson Siasiah enabled the former Nigerian International to score a quick opener, 1:0; however, Bnei-Yehuda managed to equalize quite quickly, when a bad deflection of Nir Sokher enabled Cobi Refua to perform a beautiful diagonal bicycle kick, 1:1. Bnei-Yehuda wasn't bad during the 1st half, but failed to score - and after the break, the story was host-led. Beni Hadad found the bar and the post of Smadja, but finally gave a pass to Daraselia who found Siasiah inside the box; the Nigerian raised the ball over the keeper and entered "The Best Scorers' List", 2:1. 20 minutes from time, the substitute Nedzad Zaric kidnapped the ball and passed it to Daraselia, who finished his day with a solo penetration and a goal, 3:1. Bnei-Yehuda is in a deep trouble, and as for Holon, it's definitely "The Pleasant Surprise Of Round 1".

The first ever "family derby" in the Israeli history (the 2 coaches are brothers) brought a victory to Elias Levi over Elisha Levi. After just 5 minutes, Yaniv Mizrahi managed to parry the mighty header of Dudu Dahan, but couldn't deal with the rebound of Moris Uzan as well. Rishon could've returned quickly to the game after earning a dubious penalty, but Nissan Capeta wasted it with a ridiculous shot Meir Cohen had no problems to stop; on the other side, Moris Uzan shot a terrific volley from 7 meters after Yaniv Biton's preparation, 2:0. The 3rd goal came still before the break, when Sergen Culakovic used a bad deflection from Kefir Agassi and scored with a flat shot from 18 meters to the right corner of Yaniv Mizrahi, 3:0. Rishon reduced the score twice after the break, through Rafi Cohen and Nir Shikwa, but in between it conceded another goal of Culakovic - his first header after Gala Pancheladze's preparation deflected from the bar, but then the forward reached it and scored from the rebound. This was the first time ever Beit-Shean scored 4 goals in the National League, during its 4.5 seasons there.
