Career Highlights Pro Career One of only 14 players in NFL history to string together four consecutive 1,000 yard rushing seasons...Holds franchise record with 1,545 yards in 1994,,,Holds team mark with 1,868 yards from scrimmage in '94. 1998 When not hampered by nagging groin injuries, Warren was everything the Cowboys coaches expected as a quality third down back and a productive runner. Warren finished the season with the team’s highest yards-per-carry average (4.9), while ranking second on the team in rushing yards (291) and rushing touchdowns (four). Warren initially suffered a left groin strain in a scrimmage with the Saints (8/11), and he re-aggravated the injury in the preseason finale at Jacksonville (8/27). That injury forced him out of the first three games, and he saw his first taste of action as a Cowboy in the loss to Oakland (9/27). He worked in the third down role that was created for him against the Raiders and caught two passes for 13 yards, including a 15-yard reception that converted a first down. Warren then exploded the following week at Washington (10/4), collecting 104 yards on 14 carries in relief of Smith, who had already registered 120 yards on 28 attempts 1997 Warren finished the year with 847 rushing yards on 200 carries to surpass Curt Warner (6,705) as the Seahawks all-time leading rusher with 6,706 career yards. He also registered a career-high 45 receptions for 257 yards. He opened the season with 64 yards on 15 carries against the N.Y. Jets (8/31), and two weeks later at Indianapolis (9/14), he rushed for 61 yards on nine attempts, including a 36-yard touchdown, and shared the team lead with six receptions for 45 yards. He averaged 6.6 yards-per-carry at Kansas City (9/28) on eight carries for 53 yards before missing the Tennessee (10/5) game with a hamstring injury. Warren returned the next week at St. Louis (10/19) and led the team with 13 carries for 37 yards and a touchdown. He led the team with 76 yards rushing against Oakland (10/26) while also picking up 29 receiving yards on three receptions. The next week at Denver (11/2), he again led the team with 55 rushing yards, while adding 28 yards on five catches. For the third straight week, he led the team in rushing with 59 yards and a touchdown at San Diego (11/9) while tying for the team lead with four receptions for 21 yards. The next week at New Orleans (11/16), he carried the ball a season-high 22 times for 87 yards while accounting for another 38 yards on a career-high seven receptions. He led the team with five catches for 38 yards against Kansas City (11/23) and added 32 yards on the ground. Against Atlanta (11/30), he led the team with 87 rushing yards on 15 carries (5.8 avg.), and he rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries to lead the team at Oakland (12/14). He closed out the year with a season-high 99 rushing yards on 17 carries against San Francisco (12/21), including a 10-yard run on the last play of the game to break Curt Warner's career team rushing record 1996 Voted an offensive captain by his teammates.
