South Jersey Wheelmen Convention

October 22 - 24, 1999

The annual SJW Convention was held at Regoboth Beach, Delaware on the weekend of October 22 - 24. It was a cool and brezy weekend.

On Friday, a contingent of club member cycled from Williamstown to Millville to pick up a few others and they rode their bike to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. After a leisurely ferry ride, they continued to battle the headwind to Rehoboth Beach.

On Saturday morning, a group of us did a 50 mile cycling tour - The Tour de Flats. Yes, the terrain was indeed flat, however, klaus, Scott and Will all had flat tires a various point along the route. The flat tires slowed the pace of the group...but we waren't in a hurry anyway. Our tour took us along the Delaware Seashore State Park, to Ocean View, then we traveled inland to Dagsboro, Millsboro and eventually the peleton made its way back to Rebhboth Beach. Later that evening, we all got together for a very nice dinner at the Great American Bistro. Many thanks to Gary Pilling for miking all the dinner arrangements.

We filled 20 roons at the Breakers Hotel & Suites and enjoyable time was had by one and all. Many spent time getting a jomp start on their holiday shopping at the outlets, walking the boardwalk, and cycling or walking around town.

Thanks to all who attended.
