Freewheel'n -
August, 2000
After a slow start, our cycling year should now be at the height
of activity. The rain and cool weather that continued through May
are now gone! We now can look forward and plan the events for the
remainder of this year.
In August, we have the Princeton Event. This annual ride is
sponsored by the Princeton
Freewheelers. Well over 1,000 riders attend
this tour. RePete has ridden on almost all from the first event
held in the early 80's. Multiple routes are available from short
15 milers to full 100 mile centuries and include both hilly and
flat terrain. Simply a great well organized event that starts in
Lawrenceville, New Jersey. This should be on every cyclist's
ridding calendar. See you there on the 5th.
Then we have our own Bridgeton
Zoo. This unique route that features a stop
at the zoo in Bridgeton, New Jersey. This may be the last chance
to ride this tour. Unless more volunteers are obtained, this ride
could be eliminated. So…turn out, help out and show your
interest on the 12th.
Then to finish out the month, RePete has another Quest Tour. We
now journey to Fort
Mercer in National Park. This historic site
is famous for defending Philadelphia from attack during the
Revolutionary War. Here we have an excellent route for those
seeking something more than ridding on flat roads. Join me on the
26th as we find some hill in South Jersey!
You can find more information about these rides elsewhere in the
SJW Newsletter or by going to Quest Tours.

There is some very disturbing news about the club jersey.
Available information at the moment indicates that the cost has
increased dramatically. Those that have ordered may be asked to
pay the additional amount. There is also the likelihood the
entire order will be canceled. In either case, this would be
regretful. Look for further comments in the soon to be released
Quotes update and in next month's Freewheel'n.
Safe Cycling,
