Friday 2/18/2000

The Snow storm did not prevent 18 Duffers from their "Hockey Day of Obligation."  There was plenty of ice time as they skated 4 on 4 with a couple of SODs (Son of Duffer, Uncle Bob's son Ben and cousin of Jerry) and NODs (Nephew of Berserk) tossed in.  Mike "the Nailer" DeVivo scored the only meaningful goal to give the Whites a 1-0 win over Stump and the Blues. The meaningless contest was a thriller as "Super Dave" scored his first Duffer Goal on a "lil Ben" rebound.  It looked like the Blues would take the meaningless contest when Ben scored his first Duffer goal to tie the game at 4 all.  The Ghost and Stump made many great saves to keep the game even.  The following Duffers get number 3 star of the game honors for getting off of their couches, out of their driveways and making Friday a night to remember:  Berserk, Papa Joe, Fruit cake, Alien, King Kong, Uncle Bob, Dave and Koss. The number 1 stars of the  game are  Doc, Beak, Rich Storm, Knarf, Klinger, The King, The Nailer and Tommy Z. These grizzled veteran Duffers not only fought their way to the rink, played 3 periods with very little sit time, then they made it to Henery's and downed 3 Pizzas and a few pitchers.



Things I heard on the Coconut Telegraph

Happy Birthday to Frank and Mike who just turned 94 and Beak will Turn 60 on 2/26/00. Frank and Beak went to watch the Riverman with Brinks and Piggy Bank. They were in the party box with the owner of the Green Bay Gamblers. He invited the Duffers to return to Green Bay. He always felt secure when Duffers were shooting at the open net for prizes.


 

The Mayor of Hayward is always ready to open the city up to us!  A number of Duffers have asked about Hayward.  Muzzy and Larry want to  go!  Are you one of us?
