Jozie @ Foley Signing 8-14-99

Well Creatures,

I made it to San Diego for the Foley Signing at the ComicCon Convention (or whatever it's called). We booked since we left at 11:00pm two nights ago and only had all day yesterday and this morning to haul our load the 1000 miles. But we're dedicated and even made it in time for the panel. This means I have some news to share with you.

First, I'm at Kinko's again since we're on the road. Yuck! Still hate this damned keyboard. Different city, same problem. In any case....

Lots of little tidbits so enjoys...

After the cage match with Taker it took Foley about 10 weeks before he started feeling better.

Foley wanted to come in to WWF as Cactus Jack but Vince vetoed it This is how Mankind came about. Remember when Taker's orbital (sp?) bone was broken and he wore a mask? Well apparently a few masks were created before Taker settled on one. Foley's mask originated out of one of Taker's rejects.

Foley made about $30K total (that is not per year) the first six years he wrestled. Some lady asked how much he made annually. None of her goddamn business. Glad he didn't answer that question.

Someone in the audience suggested that Chaos Comics do "chats" in their chatroom. Foley said he'd do it but he couldn't type as he's not computer literate. Brian Pulido (creator of ChaosComics) said he hadn't thought of it but it sounded good.

We may see a little more of Mrs. Socko. (Yes, that was Jr.'s question.) Apparently Mr. Socko's been a little lonely lately.

Foley didn't take painkillers after his knee surgery because he was writing his autobiography which is due out around late October. It's been pushed back because Foley is soooo incredibly prolific!

Foley did say he was "doped up" after the cage match with Taker.

Brian Pulido said he wasn't starting or not starting any rumors about an animated feature with the wrestling characters!! But he was the one who brought it up...

Foley left WCW because it felt like a deadend. He felt that if he had stayed with them he would be cutting grass by now for a living. A couple years after he left WCW he heard that there was tension on his way out. He never felt any tension on his way out. So if it was there he wasn't aware of it.

Foley's Favorite Character=Mankind. Why? Most profitable.

Foley's Favorite Match=Mindgames Opponent:HBK

Bad news: Dr. said Foley would have to lose weight if he wants to keep wrestling due to the condition of his knee. (goal 287?)

Mankind bought Jericho to ECW

Mick will propose a Boiler Room Match again Jericho

Mick's Dream Match: Madison Square Garden ~~ Adula&Terry Funk vs. Jimmy "SuperFly" Snuka&Mankind!!!

Foley was busier when he was off than when we was working. He and his family made a tour of many of the countries amusement parks. During which time he was also writing his book, and of course let's not forget about Australia.

We will see him back Monday Night!!!

Foley doesn't feel we need to watch Mankind and Taker in the ring for a while.

Wanted to thank Tony Shavani for advertising Mankind's win of the title!! Thrusting viewers from WCW to WWF so they could watch the match. So kind of Shavani to give such advance notice.

Somewhere there is a tape out there of Foley at 17 years old. It was his *first* leap. It was off a basketball rim. He made some profane remarks before this jump directed at Vince.

Yes, he does get tired of so many shots to the head with a chair. That is why we will be seeing less of them.

Brian (?) accidently mentioned something about "Jack Manson". Foley said "Sssh we can't talk about that." It was never mentioned again. (Cactus Jack combined with Charles Manson????? Who knows.) Foley made many no too subtle hints that he is thinking about retiring sometime soon. He is thinking that maybe he'd like to go out WITH A WIN!!! He also mentioned how it would be nice to headline on the Westlemania 2000 card. Perhaps against Stone Cold. He also said this would force him back into the "Bad Guy" role. So let's see... Jack Manson could be a new heel Foley character that could eventually fight Austin at WM2000?? I have no idea. Just thoughts. I don't want Foley to go anywhere, but of course if he were to go go knows that boy deserves to go out with a win!!!

So that's it. That's my take on it. Foley is such a cool dude (oops, yes I'm from so. Cal.) He is always very sweet and very kind. It was worth the trip and the huge pain in the ass as far as the logistics.

Tomorrow is Taker's Time. No panel, just signing. LOL...as though that weren't enough!!! :-)

Till another time.

Jozie

PS. There is a great Comic Book by ChaosComics called "Lady Death". Yes, I'm sure most of you know about it already, but I just wanted to put it out there anyway!!
