& 2008 NHL pre-season games.
vs
The World
I am trying to gather all scores
involving NHL clubs versus non-NHL clubs,
below is what i have found so far,
although not all stats are complete such
as home team or attendance.
What i'm looking for is NHL versus; AHL
teams, IHL teams or any other North
American league..NHL versus Canadian and
USA National teams...
Most if not all games always
involve NHL pre-season exhibition..
Have the info, no scores;
-1938 Detroit and Montreal play in Europe?
Did they actually play
European teams?
-1959 Boston and NY Rangers played in
Paris, London, Berlin, and Zurich.
Did they play only between
themselves? 23 games were involved.
-1980, Minnesota and Washington played
in Sweden, in something called
the DN Hockey Cup.
-1981, Washington and the NY Rangers
again in DN Cup, plus games in Finland.
-mid 1980's, a ton of exhibition games
involving IHL and AHL teams, also
some tuneup games involving Canada
and USA Olympic teams in 1988? 1992? 1994?
-1990, Montreal and Minnesota in
Russia,
and Sweden also i believe.
1990, Edmonton and St.Louis play in
Epson Cup in West Germany. Also some
games in Austria.
If you have any info on these or any other
NHL games, drop me a note at dgour@sympatico.ca

Denver
Invaders vs Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs placed a farm
team in Denver in 1963. They played the Denver team, named
the Invaders
in either late september or early october 1963. Dave Keon scored
for the Leafs and Milan Marcetta scored for Denver.
The Leafs played Swedish National Team goaltender Kjell Svensson in the
nets for the game. He never played a regulation NHL game.

The
attendance was 7,092 according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle
of Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1955 (page 30). It was the first
professional hockey game of any kind (obviously, in this case, an
exhibition) in Rochester since the Cardinals played their last IHL game
here at the end of the 1935-36 season.
