1972 Olympic Discus Throw Bronze Medalist
At the 1968 Olympic Games, Bruch finished in eighth place. He took the silver meal at the 1969 European Championships. In 1972, he tied the world record of 68.40 meters in Stockholm and later in the summer won the bronze medal in Munich. He failed to advance out of the qualifying round in Montreal and set his personal best of 71.26 meters in 1984, still ninth on the all-time list.
