PERSONAL:  Ryan Y. Anderson. graduated from Divine Child High School in Dearborn, MI in 1997. was 5-2, 0.68 in nine games with Divine Child as a senior. started seven games and completed all seven, including three no-hitters. allowed just seven hits and 33 walks in 51.1 innings pitched and of the 154 outs he recorded, 133 were by strike out. chosen as the Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year for the state of Michigan in 1997. 1999: Spent season with AA New Haven. led the Eastern League in strikeouts. set a New Haven record with a ratio of 10.88 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. was second in the E.L. in losses and walks. struck out 10 or more in five games, including his last three starts. missed most of July while playing in two All-Star games and with Team USA at the Pan Am Games.was 1-0, 1.35 in 2 games, 1 GS, with Team USA (6.2,4,2,1,2,9); beat Brazil on July 29 (6.0,3,2,1,2,9)... whiffed a season-high 12 in his final start Sept. 5 vs. Binghamton. won four-of-last-five decisions from Aug. 16-Sept. 5. recorded a decision in 22 of his 24 appearances. named New Haven's Most Valuable Pitcher at conclusion of the season. pitched for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League. 

CAREER:Began his professional career with the Mariners Instructional League team in Peoria in 1997... finished with a 3-2, 2.38 (22.2 IP, 6 ER) mark overall, and allowed only two earned runs in his final five games (16.0 IP, 2 ER)... struck out 35 while walking 16... spent his first full professional season with single-A Wisconsin in 1998... was 3-0, 0.43 ERA (21.0 IP) in the month of April... on disabled list May 12-June 9 with a strained left tricep... notched 152 strikeouts, second most in the Mariners minor league system... averaged 12.29 strikeouts per nine innings pitched, the third best ratio among all full season starting pitchers. . . was named to the Midwest League All-Star team and Howe Sportsdata's All-Teenager Team... named honorable mention in the Howe Sportsdata Left-Handed Pitcher of the Year ballotting.
