The Seattle Kingdome
The Dome and Safeco On this site you'll find information on our gray friend that was a fixture in the Seattle skyline for almost 25 years. In the year 2000 the Dome's life ended with a spectacular implosion that was witnessed by thousands, both on TV and in person. What was left behind was a pile of concrete and lots of memories - the 1979 baseball All-Star Game, the 1983 NFL play-offs, Steve Largent breaking football records, the 1995 baseball play-offs, Randy Johnson's no-hitter, and much more.
The Dome and its replacement - Safeco Field
Call it ugly, call it an eyesore, but people will have to give credit that the Kingdome brought Major League baseball and an NFL team to Seattle. Unfortunately the city built a stadium during the 1970's when "multi-purpose" was the craze. After all is said and done, the Dome served its purpose and hosted a number of events - baseball, football, basketball, concerts, monster truck rallies, motor cross, religious meetings, Christmas parties, and too many more to mention.
