Dodgers' equation:
$105 million + 2 trades = World Series

The Dodgers made the biggest (and most expensive) move of the offseason by signing highly sought free agent Kevin Brown to a $105 million contract. Continuing the shuffle, the Dodgers also picked up Todd Hundley and Arnold Gooch from the New York Mets for Charles Johnson (who was shipped to Baltimore) and Roger Cedeno. With the signing of relief pitcher Pedro Borbon to a minor league contract, the Dodgers offseason looks to be wrapping up nicely. Predictions will once again be high for this team, and hopefully this year they will come through.

Dodgers starting to retool

The look of the Dodgers is changing daily. Davey Johnson has stepped in as manager. Bobby Bonilla has been sent back to New York. Tommy Lasorda has been replaced by new GM Kevin Malone, and Malone has wasted little time in bringing in what he thinks are the few pieces of the puzzle the team still needs. Malone started off by signing Devon White to play center field and lead off. Malone then bolstered the bullpen by signing Alan Mills and getting Mel Rojas from the Mets for Bonilla. Malone's next move may be signing Randy Johnson. The Dodgers need to find one more starter, whether it be Johnson or someone else, and Malone looks like the kind of GM that is going to try to fill all the holes with the best players possible.
