Tatiana Lyssenko
Tatiana Lyssenko won her only major
AA title at the 1990 World Cup. She competed at the 1991 World Championships
but a fall on balance beam kept her out of the AA medals. In 1992
she fell once again on beam at the European Cup and out of the AA standings.
At the '92 Olympics she was one of the favorites to win the AA but a step
out of bounds on floor dashed her hopes. But there is a happy ending
in her final Olympic performance on the event finals of her favorite apparatus,
the balace beam, she finally hit her rutine cold and won the gold medal.
She represented Ukraine at th 93 World Championships where she earned a
bronze medal in the AA, and at the 94 World Championships. She is
currently living in the US and performing in the Gold Tour. She will
be best remembered for her originality, difficulty, power of interpretation
and artistry. Her trademark skills include a beautiful double twsisting
Yurchenko, Shaposnikova inmediate full turn and double front half off bars,
roundoff three layout mount on beam and arabian double front on floor.
