Olga Mostepanova
After wining the legendary alternate
Olympics with a perfect score of 40.00, Mostepanova competed at the 1985
World Championships where she won a team gold medal. She along with
her teammate Baraksanova were pulled out of the AA finals and hence out
of any event finals with an "injury" in favor of their
teammates Oksana Omelianchik and Elena Sushunova who went on to tie for
the AA gold. Mostepanova was well known for her long, lean lines,
flexability, for her artistic interpretation and originality. She
was the first to perform the "Onodi" on beam but did not register
it and therefore it does not bear her name in the Code of Points.
