Women's Lacrosse

I recently signed up to play women's lacrosse at the high school I attend, East Chapel Hill High School. Our team name (like our school mascot) is the Wildcats. (same mascot I had at my elementary school :)
Since I had never even heard of lacrosse before I came to Chapel Hill, I am not terribly good. Actually, I pretty much suck :) I can't run very well, so unless the person I'm defending is about as slow as me, I usually end up lagging behind. Oh well, enough about my incompetence!

Now, you will get a tirade about the awful inequity of sports funding. (skip to the end of this paragraph for the real info ;) Women's lacrosse is the only sport at our school that is considered a club sport. That means we get all but no funding. No support. Our uniforms are little t-shirts w/ numbers printed on them. Compared to the good-enough-to-be-professional uniforms of most of the other sports, they're pitiful. While other schools' teams get neat little uniform plaid skirts to play in, we have to buy our own black shorts for games. (not that I'd rather play in skirts, but...) They don't even mention our games in the local newspaper, even though they actually wrote a small article about the men's lacrosse team. Eh...life's a pain, then ya die!

Since our season is now over, looking back I have to say there's not much to say. All we had was 4 games (which, seeing our support, or lack thereof, wasn't too bad a number) Half-and-half record, not too good, but what can we say? No tryouts. If there had been tryouts, alot of us wouldn't have been on the team (including me :)
