Site Entries - Jan - Mar 1999

I've made so many site entries that I've had to break it down into 30kb HTML files. Below, you'll find the site entries from January, February and March 1999. You can click here to see more current entries, or click here to see entries from 1998.

Site Entries from Apr 99 Forward

March 30, 1999
The Colosseum Community Leader pointed out a problem in the pull-down menu of my Table Tennis Page. I think I have fixed it. I also made the majority of the text on my main page "justified," instead of just centered.

March 24, 1999
After much fanfare and discussion, I updated / redid the PPMSSL Logo. If you want, you can see the old and new ones together here. The old one loaded quicker, and was much smaller in file size, but poor quality. The newer one is 2 times the file size, but I think is of a more professional level. You tell me (in my guest book, or the PPMSSL Guest Book) which you like better!

I also removed references to my Brother's page today. Now, if you want to see his page, you'll have to e-mail me and I'll send you the address!

March 19, 1999
Although there isn't much on the Penn Home Infusion Therapy page yet, I was able to spruce up the image and the words a bit. The old picture and words were scanned from a folder we had. Ewww. I doubt anyone will be able to tell the difference, but I KNEW, and therefore, I KNOW it looks better! I can't wait to start working on that page, but you know how red tape works in any large company. Bah!

March 17, 1999
After confirming the fact that the "GeoCities Online HTML Editor Buffer can only store about 30kb worth of information," I decided to chop this Site Info file in pieces. The 1998 Site Info Entries can be found here. I guess as the Site Info file grows bigger, I'll have to continue to chop it up into smaller pieces. The price you pay for keeping your viewers aware of whats going on in your site!

I did 3 new things on the PPMSSL Page: (let me know what you think!)

  1. Added the 1999 Team Contact Info Sheet
  2. Added the 1999 Selection Alignments Sheet
  3. Changed the Article 1 Reactions so that the newest responses are on top, chronologically.

March 15, 1999
I received confirmation that my Heartland University Paint Shop Pro Course has officially started! Lets see what I can learn!

March 12, 1999
I graduated from the "Tables Course" at Heartland University! Yahoo! I'll have to add a page for "Awards and Honors" to put up my diploma!

I also started, with a buddy from HUP, working on the HUP Dept of Nursing web page. Nothing online yet, but keep your eyes open.

March 08, 1999
Today I got confirmation back about attending Heartland University, a FREE online HTML CLASS for GeoCities Members. Very cool! I am starting the "Advanced HTML Class - Tables" today! I already completed the first homework assignment, and embelished it a little bit with some colors to impress the teacher (I doubt it did!) I hope to learn some neat stuff!

March 05, 1999
My brother asked for a link to his page, so I obliged him by adding a small picture of him to the bottom of my Friend & Family page.

March 04, 1999
Today I loaded about 9 images of my niece onto my brother's home page. He said he didn't have the time to do it, so I helped him out a bit!

March 03, 1999
Today I put up the new "Front Page." I made it mostly today, since there aren't many images involved. I made the background yesterday though. I think it loads much quicker, and its cross platform compatible (or it should be!) I hope everyone likes it.

March 02, 1999
I added some more images to the Testing Area - Images 1 page. Mostly, just the banner I was working on for Nick, and neat Wooden Welcome sign that I was messing with.

March 01, 1999
Due to some odd and unforseen circumstances, I removed the Extreme Tracker counter from the front of my page. I don't know why, but the counter uses JavaScript which didn't work with Internet Explorer. I also added another section to my home page, my Testing Area. There, you can see some of the images and pages I've been working on, but never got around to putting online.

February 25, 1999
For the heck of it, I added the Extreme Tracker icon to the front of my page. I thought they had a neat URL Tracking Locator. What the heck, free trackers - you can't beat 'em!

February 24, 1999
I added a fun "Brady's Bunch Logo" to the page about my friends, family and me. I kind of went overboard with it, so I'm not sure if it has a cool look to it or not. You tell me (by signing my guest book!).

February 23, 1999
I moved the banner that was on the Front Page of the Penn Plum Monroe Sunday Softball League page to the main page. I also added a 3rd e-mail to the Article 1 Reactions.

I added a nifty Aaron to the top of the Aaron Page, and also a nifty Jennifer to the top of the Jennifer Page.

February 22, 1999
Today I added another 19 pictures of Aaron. I then went to each of the previous 3 pages and added the link to the 4th page. I also added links to View My Guestbook and Sign My Guestbook to each of the 4 Aaron pages.

February 19, 1999
I added the 1999 PPMSSL Rule Changes to the PPMSSL Web Page. I also added two moving "banner" gifs to the front page and made a 2 pixel border around the batter to "enter here." I think it looks better. I also added the Article 1 Reactions. It seems that Ed has published that article in a few magazines and journals, and people are e-mailing him their reactions. Kind of neat.

On my Table Tennis Page I added the sign/view guest book at the bottom.

February 17, 1999
On request of my brother, I broke my Aaron Page into 3 sections, based on when they were taken. Hopefully that will satisfy viewers with slower connections. I knew I would have to do that eventually, once I got enough pictures up there.

February 12, 1999
On request of Nicholas Flor, I looked into some of the "web counters" that are out there. I selected NedStat, because of the information they provide you about the viewers of your site. The icon on the front page is a link to my site's counter information. I am also amazed that I finally breached the 1000 hit mark. Most of them were probably me!

February 10, 1999
I added another 8 pictures of Aaron.
I also added 6 new pictures of Jennifer.
I also added the rest of the sounds to the PPMSSL web page.

February 9, 1999
I found a way to change the PPMSSL Logo on the front page to make it look a bit better. Let me know how you like it! I also downloaded the sounds that we are going to be using, and installed the first one on the front page. I can't listen to the midis, so I just have to assume they are working!

You may have also noticed the recently updated Brady's Bunch and Table Tennis pages. I didn't update them much, mostly "behind the scenes" updates like moving files from one folder to another, the use of the BASE HREF tag, and a few other things. Please let me know if you see any problems, have problems clicking within my pages, or see a broken image anywhere! Thanks!

Lastly, I made a bunch of changes to my Jennifer Tribute page. Table resizing (I made all the tables 575 pixels wide), rewording of text (some of it was just plain stupid), adding another image (the first one) and changing that bad background I had on there (I like the "pinkish rose," don't you?). I have a bunch of images to add..maybe tomorrow (mostly of Jennifer being pregnant!!).

February 8, 1999
Today I put more stuff on the League History page, including the team records and top 10 team records. I also managed to get some of the backgrounds done for some of the differnet sub-pages.

February 4, 1999
I didn't get anything done today for the PPMSSL Page, BUT - I did manage to secure a web page for my company. You can check it out here:  Penn Home Infusion Therapy. I also figured out what I was doing wrong with the FTP and TELNET; I installed WS_FTP LE95, and that worked awesomely. (of course, my brother suggested this a while ago, but without the firewall settings that I received from the corporate office, I would still be in the same boat I am now!)

On top of that, I also fiddled with my other minor pages:  (I have them just for the fun of it!)

Looks like I'm getting to be a regular web page hoarder!
My brother asked me, "Are you getting paid to do that web page?" - and of course the answer is no, but, I am getting a lot of FREE experience, and you can't find that everywhere!

I also went back and added a few links at the bottom my Aaron Page. Basically just links elsewhere in my site, since a lot of people seem to check out my boy!  Lastly, I added how was this site changed? to the front page.

February 3, 1999
Today and Yesterday I put up some more documents on the PPMSSL Page. Mostly in the League News section. I'm working on an "online submission" form for the Roster Form and Team Information Sheet. May not go up soon though. I am also going to add a My Son link to my front page. I really need to re-create that entire front page, but I won't get started until the PPMSSL page is almost done.

February 1, 1999
I added two new sheets to the PPMSSL Page - the Past Champions, and added the Sponsor Letter.

I also added 15 new pictures of my son Aaron! He's such a cute boy!

January 29, 1999
Per the suggestion of Chris Cruz, I changed the this page was last changed on... on the front page to this site was last changed on.... I think it depicts the changes better, and so did Cruz, so I changed it. He also gave me some suggestions for my professional web page, and I hope to making them sometime today as well.

I also moved the Penn Plum Monroe Sunday Softball League Home Page to its new location: Colosseum/Slope/2232. It is Ed Adam's new web page.

I made some changes to my Professional Web Site, heeding Cruz's remarks, and changing the picture to something more professional. Should I put my resume up there? Seems like a desparate move to me.

January 28, 1999
A bunch of changes over the last few days. Not many to my personal page, although I did a "Professional Web Page," here: mail.med.upenn.edu/~weissb, but its nothing special. I had many problems with FTP and TELNET trying to get the files onto the mail.med.upenn.edu server. Really, I was trying to get a web page for my company, but no luck yet.

Multiple changes to the Penn Plum Monroe Sunday Softball League Web Page. I changed the Front Page, trying to get the text so it was easier to read, and also added a link to the USA Softball Web Page. I also changed the Main Page of the PPMSSL, taking off the JavaScript, adding a "Line-Up" card in the center. I don't know if I like it better or not, but it sure took a lot less time to do than the fancy JavaScript.

Ed Adams, the owner of the PPMSSL Home Page, has been looking into registering www.ppmssl.com. It seems like a really neat idea. Its not too expensive either. I can't wait to see how it works!

January 22, 1999
Over the last two weeks I have worked exclusively on the Penn Plum Monroe Sunday Softball League web page for my buddy. Its been quite a learning experience. Two days ago I debuted my new JavaScript and Transparent GIF table on the 2nd page in. I then re-formatted the weather click-on so it worked right (I wasn't getting the AREA MAP tags right, so I used a *.MAP file instead.) Yesterday, I put up the first "News Item" from PPMSSL - the Pre-Season 1999 Letter. Today, I went back and changed the 1998s in the letter to 1999s. A simple mistake.

Many of the new things I've learned I've found out about through comp.graphics.apps.paint-shop-pro (thats a "newsgroup" in case you didn't know), since I use Paint Shop Pro 5.01 as my main graphics / image editing tool. Its really quite a wonderful piece of software. Drop me a line, and I'll tell you all about it (along with a few tips and secrets!). You can get a copy at www.download.com, or directly from the Manufacturer: www.jasc.com. Either way, its a great progam. It takes a while to get used to, but once you start playing with it, its a powerful tool that I wouldn't want to do without! I have Nick Flor to thank for showing me PSP 4.12, which in itself was a great product, and PSP 5.01 is even better! Enough jabber, back to designing!

January 13, 1999
Wow, almost a month since my last entry? Well, I guess having a baby will do that to you! You can see pictures of him at Aaron's Page, which is fully functional today! I also changed 3 or 4 links on the Brady's Bunch Page, 3 specifically that point to Jason Livingston's Page, and one to the Phantom Four Page, since Nick no longer has his uscom account. I have also started the work on the Penn Plum Monroe Sunday Softball League Home Page for my friend Ed Adams. It is no where near complete, but you can see the progress there. Many of the links are already clickable (like the playoffs, links, articles and rules) but some won't be done for a while.
