As you and your friends clash together in fiercely heated battle several times, styles of play will emerge for different people, and they will want weapons to fit their style. These Styles will also help in the composure of teams, but that's another section yet.
1. Sniper
This is a catagory that you will find on any and every Nerf page under styles, or tactics, or whatever. This is because this is probably the most clear cut and obvious classification. Also because everybody (except me) loves to snipe and fancies themselves excellent at it.
This is pretty obvious. A sniper sits somewhere in cover and attempts to pick off people from afar. This is the person who benefits from long periods of silence and innactivity. This person doesn't have many confrontations with other players, other than maybe another sniper. This person has the best aim, and packs long range weaponry. His main weapon is usually a single shot weapon with superior range. However, I think no one should be without back-up. Most pages you read will have a sniper with a Crossbow, and then a Lock N load or something single shot for back up. I believe the Sniper is the most volnerable player and therefore should pack a stron back up cocked. I'm not sayin waste a Chain Blazer or Mad Hornet on the sniper, but in my oppinion a Manta Ray wouldn't be a bad idea, the nagain I think everybody should pack a Manta Ray.
COMBO #1
(Recomended)
(Snipers realy only need two weapons, one for picking people off, and one for defense in case or a Raid)
MAIN WEAPON: Modified Crossbow (shoots double barrel if possible, mod to come later)
BACK-UP: Manta Ray or Shotgun style Sharp Shooter 2
HOLD-OUT: Unnecasary/Super Maxx 700/750 or Lock and Load without Yellow top so it fits in your pocket.
COMBO #2
MAIN WEAPON: Larami 1000 (more range than a 2500), or 2500/3000
BACK-UP: Sharp Shooter 2 (shotgun style modification)
Hold-Out: None, 1000 or 2500 has enough ammo and good enough rate of fire
COMBO #3
(Only recomended if there are more than one Vortex Tornados in play or you have a lot of ammo for it)
MAIN WEAPON: Vortex Tornado (best Sniper weapon, but not a common ammo type and snipers don't wana run out of ammo)
BACK-UP: Manta Ray
Hold Out: Lock & Load
COMBO #4
(absolute last resort)
MAIN WEAPON: Nerf/Super Maxx 1500
BACK-UP: Shot Gun Style Sharp Shooter 2 (Manta Ray would work but it would ruin the only good thing about this combo; size and manageability)
Hold-Out: none
2. Warrior
This what all warriors start as and some stay. Although Sniping is the most popular style, this is what people most comonly should be.
This is the guy who does everything. He doesn't snipe, but he isn't the guy who goes running in. This guy fills in the gaps, he helps wherever it is needed. He is the most versatile fighter and has to be able to everything well. He might have to snipe in one game or run around in the thick of it the next. He needs the best all around weapons. He wants high ammo count, but he can't sacrafice range. He need equipment enough to do anything (this usually means 2500!!!).
COMBO #1
MAIN WEAPON: Larami 2500 or 3000
BACK-UP: Mad Hornet (modified of course) or RatchetBlast if you can't get a MH
Hold-out: Shot-gun modified SS2
COMBO #2
MAIN WEAPON: Arrow Storm (I don't like it much but the majority love it and it does fit)
SECONDARY: RatchetBlast
BACK-UP: Super Max 700 (perfect for range)
COMBO #3
MAIN WEAPON: Super Maxx 2500/3000
BBACK-UP: Manta Ray
1. Raider
This is epitimy of Nerf manhood. This guy does the dirty work. He doesn't concern himself with numbers or enemy weaponry, he just kills. This guy doesn't need to snipe or strategize, he is the first guy into the enemy base. If he's good he doesn't draw as much fire cause the enemies are more likely to run than confront a well equiped raider. He has the most chance of getting killed, yet is the least vulnerable. Don't get me wrong, this isn't the path for the skilless or the mindless. It is probably one of the most difficult jobs, but it is also the most rewarding, cause this is the guy who gets the kills.
The Raider depends heavily on his weapons, which mean the difference between life and death. The raider has both the most to gain and lose through good and bad weaponry so he should know and love his weapons. I personally am a Raider, so I know these combos work extremely well, and garauntee that they are effective in the hands of a skilled Raider.
(A raider doesn't carry conventional combonations, so there isn't always a Main or Back-up weapon, you usually want one in each hand at all times)
One thing that I feel must be pointed out is that I make no mention of a Spitfire anywhere in my below combos. True this weapon is the perfect raid weapon, and if you want to use one it will make any of the following Combos a whole lot more devastating added anywhere. However, the spitfire uses an alternate ammo system, and that along with the fact that it is battery activated make it unreliable, and often banned from my wars. The truth is I wouldn't put anything that can't use Larami darts anywhere in any of my combos since that is the ammo type I always use.
COMBO #1
(Recomended**What I use)
RAIDING COMBO: Manta Ray and 2 Mad Hornet with have a holster for this if possible, discription yet to come (If you can get your hands on 2 Hornets this Combo is unbelievable, and if you have a holster for both, if you can make one a second is easy, it's no more cumbersom, you just have two weapons holstered at a time.
LONG RANGE BACK-UP: 1500 (this is what I use whenever I need to make long range shots, This fits nicely into my Mad Hornet Holster)
COMBO #2
RAIDING COMBO: Manta Ray and One Mad Hornet
LONG RANGE BACK-UP: Supermax 2500/300 With only a single Hornet a Raider will waste all his shots in a single run, and the 1500 is not adequate to hold off angry team-mates of the slayn, an eight shooter with a carrying strap, or left at your cover is perfest for holding off counter attacks of weakened warriors.
Those are the ideal combos for raiders, the following are if you can't get your hands on a Mad Hornet and/or MantaRay.
COMBO #3
MAN WEAPON: RotoTrack/ChainBlazer
BACK-UP: Ratchet Blast
Hold out: SuperMaxx 700/750 (modified SS2 doesn't have the range required for this possition.
COMBO #4
This is what I Call my No Range No Mercy combo, it's impossible outside, and can be boring inside, however, ifyou can pull it off (not many can, for lack of weaponry) you can kill anything that dares come near you in a few seconds.
DEVASTATION COMBO: 2 Manta Rays, 2 Mad Hornets. You need at least two holsters capable of holdin Mad hornets and Manta Rays, other wise you need 3-4 holsters.
READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO BACK
These are only the three most basic classifications for a player. No player, or at least very few, fall perfectly under these sections. I personnally am mostly a Raider, but I also do a little bit of everything. The same things go for Weaponry. These combos are the ones that I would use as any of these classsifications. Later I may add a more complicated grid of classifications, but for now don't be afraid to experiment with combonations, and don't try to conform your self to one of these styles. You might want to use tham as a jumping off point, but they are by no means written in stone, they are just my humble oppinions of basic classification.
