Arabia Adventure

Tudo começou no ano de 1975, quando o Zagallo foi convidado pelo empresário Elias Zacour para ser o treinador da Seleção do Kuwait. Zagallo me indicou como seu auxiliar-técnico. Declinei do convite, por não poder naquela oportunidade me ausentar do país.Ele então convidou o Parreira, que de pronto aceitou.

Os dois, não só abriram as portas para os treinadores naquela área, como fizeram um trabalho de realce, conquistando títulos.

Em 78/79, Zagallo retornou ao Brasil, deixando o Parreira como auxiliar de um treinador local.Em pouco tempo o Parreira assumiu a direção da Seleção e eles ediram que ele indicasse dois treinadores para um trabalho de profundidade visando as competições que iriam disputar.

Eu fui um dos escolhidos e, em 1979, embarcava para uma extraordinária aventura que durou até 1982.

Conseguimos ganhar a Copa Asiática, que é a competição mais importante do mundo asiático, classificamos a Seleção para a Olimpíada de Moscou-80 e à Copa do Mundo de 82 na Espanha.

Como treinador no Kuwait, tive a oportunidade de dirigir a Seleção, que se fez representar com o segundo time, a fim de preservar o treinador Parreira e o time classificado para a Copa , na tradicional competição " GULF CUP" ( Copa do Gôlfo) que vem a ser a Copa América deles, tendo sido disputada na cidade de Abudabi - Emirados Arábes.

Fui feliz, fomos os campeões, jogando contra a poderosa Arábia Saudita, dirigida pelo Zagallo; Katar dirigida pelo Evaristo e Bharein, dirigida pelo Sebastião Araujo.

Terminada a Copa da Espanha, eu e o Parreira voltamos ao Rio de Janeiro e fomos juntos mais uma vez para a Seleção Brasileira.

Fomos convidados para dirigir a Seleção dos Emirados árabes, realizamos um bom trabalho, sem ganhar títulos, mas superando a poderosa Arábia Saudita nas Eliminatórias da Copa do mundo, façanha que foi o bastante para manter o prestígio.

Retornaria aos Emirados, mas dessa vez como auxiliar do Zagallo, em 1989,classificando para a Copa de 1990, na Itália, uma seleção que nunca havia ganhado nada.

Em 1993 fui o treinador do Clube Al nasr de Dubai, juntamente com Marcelo Chirol, meu filho mais novo, conseguindo ganhar um torneio. É só...

Everything began in the year of 1975, when Zagallo was invited by manager Elias 
Zacour to be the trainer of the National team of Kuwait. Zagallo indicated me 
as its auxiliary-technician.
I declined of the invitation, for not being able to not in that opportunity to 
be absent of the country.
He then invited Parreira, that accepted of ready.
These two men  not only opened the doors for the trainers in that area,
as they made a work of it enhances, conquering titles.
In 78/79, Zagallo came back to Brazil, leaving Parreira as auxiliary of a local 
trainer.
In little time Parreira assumed the national team's direction and the Arabs 
asked that he indicated two trainers for a depth work seeking the competitions

that would dispute.
I went one of the chosen ones and, in 1979, it embarked for an extraordinary
adventure that it lasted up to 1982.
We won the Asian Cup, that it is the most important competition of the Asian
world,we classified the Selection for the Olympic Games of Moscou-80 and to the Cup
of the World of 82 in Spain.
As trainer in Kuwait, I had the opportunity to drive the Kuwait, that played
with the second team, in order to preserve trainer Parreira and the team classified for
the Cup, in the traditional competition - " GULF CUP " that comes to be their Copa America,
having been disputed in the city of Abudabi - Arabian Emirates.
I was happy, we went the champions, playing against powerful Saudi Arabia,
driven by Zagallo;Katar driven by Evaristo and Bharein, driven by Sebastião Araújo, majors
brazilian coachs.
Everybody made to represent for the main teams.
Finished the Cup of Spain, I and Parreira returned to Rio de Janeiro and we
were once again together for the Brazilian Selection.
In 1984, together we took the Fluminense to Brazilian Champion's title.
We were invited to drive the Selection of the Arab Emirates, we accomplished a
good work, without winning titles, but eliminating Saudi Arabia in the preliminary rounds
of the Cup of the world,
that went enough to maintain the prestige.
It would come back to the Emirates, but of that time as auxiliary of Zagallo,
in 1989, classifying for the Cup of 1990, in Italy, a selection that had never
won anything.
The feat was so big that they dismissed us !!!
In 1993 I went the trainer of the Club Al nasr of Dubai, together with Marcelo
Chirol, may son, getting to win a tournament. That's all.
