AOL DEFINITELY SUCKS
I don't know why anyone would pay 22 bucks a month for a lousy dial up connection and some incredibly annoying software.

ISP
I am from the northern states region and i have a few questions for you fine folks if you dont mind. It seems your knowledge of ISP's is vast and woul dlove to pick your brains. I am currently Living in USA with my husband and found an internet lover in Canada who would love me to spend some quality time with him. I am thinking about making the trip, but am afraid the ISP will be hot on my tail. How is it that they know exactly where you are having sex and how do they know you are from another nation. ANy help would be great, I hear the ISP dont take this stuff too lightly.

THanks

REAP IT!
Q Does Qwickconnect really have unlimited access?
A We do use the words "Unlimited Access" and we mean it in this way.

You have "Unlimited Access" to any of our 3,000+ access locations.

You also get 150 hours a month time online which is an average of 5 hous a day. Less then 1 percent of our clients exceed this but when it does their account is temporarily disabled until the first of the next month.

We do realize customers see "Unlimited Access" and expect it to mean no time limits. That would be dedicated access like cable or DSL, which usually costs 40 dollars or more a month.

5. EXTENT OF USE.
An "Unlimited" access account does not constitute a dedicated connection. Qwickconnect intends it to be for an unlimited amount of time "manually" making use of the connection (ie: a human being sitting at a computer). Qwickconnect employs a 10 minute inactivity timer as well as a 5 hour network cutoff timer to ensure fair access to all customers. Any attempts to bypass such measures is a breach of this agreement and will result in the immediate cancellation of all services without warning. (examples of such measures are but not exclusive to: ping daemons, IRC, and mailbots.)

speeds
I have used Poetworld for 10 months and the speeds are better than any of the 15+ isps I have used. Connected now at 50,666 but to measure tha ACTUAL surfing speed, I use http://www.numion.com/ and the speeds are 34kbps (on an old 133mhz computer) and with AOL it was about 21, NetZero23, ATT 29, etc. Very reliable service and the best speeds. You can spend a little less, but for no problem fast speeds I can't find anything better. You can sign on easily without a lot of software using DUN or the dialer. I'm staying with Poetworld and have used them longer than anyone which says a lot.

answer to wayne
hi wayne,
thank you for being so honest and putting it on freedom list for everyone to see...i was reading about this service in a magazine so i got on my computer to see about signing up...after reading about your problems with this company i have NO intention of switching from my current one...as for the snotty answers i keep reading in here from URKIDDING, i have come to the assumption that he is probably the president of access 4 free or else their main spokesperson...he has to be or he couldnt possibly have the time to answer all the complaints on line with his ridiculous remarks...
again...thank you..you have helped me decide and i imagine you have enlightened many other people also...if this company doesnt have the time to answer questions from their clients they need to find another business that allows them more time...
thank you

Top Notch So Far!
I signed up yesterday, got instant account info, set up the DUN on my Mac, was online, and sending email in 20 minutes! I waited 5 days for Talent Group to provide account info, which they never did, before I cancelled them.

I like AllVantage's TOS. No hard and fast rules on idle time disconnects or hours per month. It appears that they will let you enjoy their service as long as you don't abuse it!
