Death

Magus Thomas Potter; 1996

As Life emerges, death enters. Most of human life is lived in too intense a manner. Is this because they fear death? Witchcraft teaches that all who live must die: even the living Universe will die. Observe this enchantment:

We all come from the Goddess
And to her we shall return;
Like a drop of rain flowing to the Ocean.

We all come from the Horned God
And to him we shall return;
Like a flash of flame rising to the Heavens.

The Principle of Conservation declares, “Energy, in any of its forms, may be converted, fractured, and absorbed, but never lost.” The General Theory of Relativity shows a direct ratio of matter and energy within a given event. All who live must die, but none who die are lost. The body returns to the earth of which we have formed it. The spirit returns to the Jiva from which it was drawn. Both return to their origins.

Death is inevitable, She has cuddled us in Her arms from the day we have been conceived. Our bodies are dying and reforming as we live. In one year we have replaced our skin several times. In eight years we have replaced our entire skeleton in the healthy body. The nerves have not been so completely replaced. No one forms new nerve cells after gestation, only new pathways. When they have damaged or worn enough nerves in the brain and body, then the body as a whole must be replaced.

While we live, death keeps us fresh. She has removed old, worn out cells and tissue. Immunity kills out disease and pathogens. Digestion kills and putrefies food. All this action is the power of Death.

So! The wise do not fear death. They cannot divert Her, so She becomes a welcomed guest and our life is good. As Life emerges, death enters. Most of human life is lived in too intense a manner. Is this because they fear death? Yet the wise do not fear death. When people do not fear death, what does it avail to scare them with death. So it is the wise do not live their lives in too intense a manner.
