The Dragons Nest
I Magus

The Magus

Magaus Thomas Potter, 2002

The Young Magus — Playing with the forces of nature as a child plays with a ball — is still filled with wonder and pleasure. He has mastered the basics of sorcery, yet is still ready to learn new wisdom, and acquire new skills. He has asked the baby of 9 days the origins of life and understood. He is no tourist, he is fully engaged in life.

He stands before the gods naked in his innocence, for in Hebrew, the words for naked and wisdom are homonyms. His hair, a symbol of divine strength, falls freely to the wind.

Reversed:

The sorcerer has failed. Oh, he has mastered the arts, conquered nature, and magic does his bidding. He has abandoned wisdom for lust. His nakedness is perverted, his desire is to dominate. He has exchanged the shining ball for a hairy one.
