The Cleansing of the Bell

Bells sound on several levels, depending on their shape, size, material, and how we play them. We must make the choice of a bell for this part carefully. Whether it is a bell or a gong, the sound should be clear, comfortable, and should carry sound well. Avoid the use of tinkling bells as they attract the Ischym, or little fairy. These Fairies can distract and confuse this rite. These bells can cause discord on the nerves of some, causing discomfort upon the fellowship.

The Names whose authorities we are invoking are those with whom we normally commune on the metaphysical level. These are:

• God: This is the very Mind of the Universe, in whose image we are begun.
• The Lord and the Lady: These are the masculine and feminine perspectives or archetypes of that Mind.
• The Keepers of the Books: These Books are the Book of Life, the Book of Knowledge, The Book ha-Satan, and the Book of Days.
• The Warders of the Watchtowers: These are the Lords and Masters of the Elements.
• The Guardians of Heaven and Hell: these are the Archetypes of the veils between our ordinary world and the world of the archetypes.
• The Immortal Nobles: These are the Gods, Angels, and other highly evolved virtual being spoken of in stories of myth.
• The Gentry: These are the Greater Fairies or Sidhe who are evolved enough to be responsible for their own actions.
• The Honored Ancestors: These are those folk who have so influenced the clans that we remember their names and deeds as legends and history, even millennia after they have been done.
• The Children of Life: These are all the things that are alive in the ordinary universe.

Cleansing of the Bell

The Guardian will ring the Bell nine times. Between each ring, they will chant this:

In the name of God, the gracious, the merciful;
In the name of the Lord and Lady;
In the name of the Keepers of the Books;
In the name of the Warders of the Watchtowers;
In the name of the Guardians of Heaven and Hell;
In the name of the immortal Nobles;
In the name of the Gentry;
In the name of the Honored Ancestors;
In the name of the Children of Life:
