We usually expect that a host should issue invitations to the members of any party. We here send invitations to the Virtual Members of this Rite. This part of the rite begins the gathering and ordering of energies required for this rite.
A Note: A Kiva is the sacred church of the South West Natives of America. The Kiva represents, for them, the primal world from where humanity emerged. Our sacred Circle that we are generating here is also of that nature.
Another Note: Dr. Stephen Hawking was preparing to enter Grad school. He was brilliant, but did not know what to do. One day, he went to the physicians and they told him he had ALS, a disease that would end his life in about three years. This disease would degrade his body so that he will have a fully functional central nervous system in a body that would not respond. Stephen chose to focus his education on theoretical physics which would require only mental effort. Now, more than thirty years later, he sits in the Copernican Seat of Mathematics at Cambridge University. His theories are among the preferred and his writings are rather popular. His body does not cooperate and he uses a computer to communicate.
It is my opinion that ALS was the best thing to happen to him. Today, he might still be unfocused and unfulfilled. The If of Life, I believe, is why we have mental and penal institutions.
When the bell's last tole has cleared the air, the seven will chant together:
In the name of God, the ruler of Nature, regent of the worlds;
We command the forces of Shadow and Light
To open the dark channels within us.
Open the Gates and set forth upon the abyss;
Call forth the gentry,
Call forth the nobles,
Call forth the warders,
That they may join our happy rite, and bless this merry affair!
Open the Gates we raise this Kiva.
Raised for this Rite of Passage.
Come to this place, this time, this temple.
Come in good cheer and love.
Open the Gates, we know your names here.
Welcome in grace and peace.
Blessed are the just, the trees have whispered.
Cursed are the ifs of life.
The Living Wall of the Temple will find their places, and we will bring the balance of the temple into place:
They've come to us.
They're with us now.
We welcome them.
¡So mote it be!
