May 24, 1999
My little Jade has grown, but she is not talking too much. Her favorite thing to say is "Pretty Bird" in a squeeky voice, that is so funny! She now lays in my hand and fluffs herself up while I scratch her head. She puts her claw in her beak and looks like she is sucking her thumb. It's totally adorable!!
If you would like to hear about some really cool birds and a Doberman go to this website: Moyra's Pet_ology She has some great stories about her pets! Check it out, you will be laughing. hehehhehehe
Above
are some pictures of my BRAND NEW PET! Yes
I have a PET.
Her name is JADE
and she is a QUAKER PARROT.
She is very tame and very lovable!! She says "Hello"! She purrs
like a kitty when you pet her. When I laugh out loud, so does she!!! She
is ADORABLY SWEET!! I got
her last Thursday, June 18, 1998.
This is not a
cyberpet. I have her at my house. She is soo cute!
*UPDATE* August 12, 1998- Jade can now say "Pretty Bird" "ByeBye" "Uh Oh" Her birthday is July 5, 1997. She likes to ride in the car on my shoulder, and she growls at the big yellow school buses! LOL She is a sweet bird.
I am
going to be putting up some information on Quaker
Parrots so you can learn about them too! I wanted
you to meet her first. If you click on the above pictures you can see the
original size of the pictures and you will be able to see her better. When
you are done looking at the actual size picture you have to hit your back
button to get back here. The pictures are too big to put on this page.
The
little birdie on the left is "YOSHI" he
is a parrakeet. No Yoshi is not mine, he belongs to friends of ours. I think
Jade is a ham, because she put her face right in the camera when I took
the one that is really close up! hahahahhaha!!
*What I have learned so far.* August 12, 1998-Some of the things I learned about Quaker Parrots so far are: Some states do not allow you to have Quaker Parrots, they apparently ruin crops for all the farmers if they are in big flocks. What I don't understand is why can't you have one as a pet? It is not in a flock and they are hand-fed when they are babies, so they are very tame. They would not know how to get food if they got lost outside. That is why you should keep their wings clipped, so they cannot get lost. Quaker Parrots love to be cuddled, it's so cute. Jade will get up under my neck and sit there and be petted. Hand -Fed Quaker Parrots often rival African grays in their ability to aquire large vocabularies. Quakers learn to talk more quickly then African Grays. A Quaker will bond strongly to one person. As I learn more I will put it up here.
