We got to go to the Mote Rehabilitation Aquarium. These people rehabilitate animals that are brought in by fisherman, boaters etc. This was very interesting. There were Manatees in the aquarium who had been struck by motor boats. They are really graceful animals in the water. When we got there the manatees were eating. Their faces are so sweet! They were eating heads of lettuce. They just stuck their faces right in the head of lettuce. It was funny! hehehhehehe

The aquarium also had sea turtles. It is against the law in Florida to disrupt a sea turtle nest. Did you know that? At the place we were staying at in Longboat Key, on our beach, we had a sea turtle nest. It was fenced off and you could not disturb it. I didn't see any eggs or sea turtle babies while I was there, but we were really careful not to disturb the nest.

There was a man there who told us all about a dolphin they had rehabilitated and they had a movie of him. WOW he was so neat. They had released the dolphin in May, a month before we got there. I wish I had seen him. I love dolphins they are really interesting fish, and very smart!
