RACHEL'S PAGE

Our daughter, Rachel, is 9 years old and LOVES all animals!
She would love to have an adorable kitten like
the one in
this picture but unfortunately cannot ... her
dad and one
brother have terrible allergies to them!

She does have a dog called BELLE, a cream-coloured terri-poo,
who was born in 1991. Unfortunately, in the summer of 2002, we had to have Belle put to sleep as she was very sick.

Rachel also has a cuddly cinnamon coloured guinea pig that she named SNUFFELUFFIGUS
... fortunately she has nicknamed her SNUFFLES!

We also have several little gerbils that actually help us
recycle cereal boxes and paper towel rolls, etc.
They're great fun to watch, scurrying and nibbling!

She has a few porclain dolls that she treasures
as well
as assorted stuffed animals displayed
at the foot of her
bed.
Her big loves are Winnie the Pooh and his friends,

especially Tigger!

The 100 Acre Wood is a magical place for everyone young at heart.

Rachel is in grade 4 at a
school situated on a road amongst farms and rides the bus to school every day.
She loves art, music and gym but doesn't like math!

She is constantly writing stories, drawing pictures
and play-acting!
Needless to say, she has a wonderful, creative imagination and
I'm always supplying her with arts and crafts supplies!

She loves reading chapter books and the
LITTLE HOUSE on the PRAIRIE series was a favourite that we read aloud together,
since I had never read it as a child!
She also loved ANNE of GREEN GABLES and the LITTLE PRINCESS.

Favourite WINTER activities include
:

sledding down a big hill in the woods near our home,
skating on a little nearby pond that often freezes
and building her own Frosty the Snowman!

Favourite SUMMER activities include:

swimming in a neighbour's pool,
giving her dolls a backyard picnic,
roller blading and bike-riding up and down
our paved road
and just being free to roam and explore
around the neighbourhood and in the woods
in behind our home.

Rachel's east coast grandparents have a cozy cottage near
the ocean and we often spend a day or two with family there, enjoying the sand, sun and surf on hot, humid days!
It's a great way to cool down!

Rachel does NOT like the jellyfish or the hermit crabs ...
she was bitten by a hermit crab once & can't forget how it felt!

Night time weiner and marshmallow roasts around a campfire, the ocean breeze cooling us after a long, hot day,
are special memories to treasure!
