Once again to our dear friends,
Old comrades so tried and true.
We'll shake your hand and smile,
Because we're glad to welcome you.
We meet again in Louisville,
The hometown of our friend Sal.
He lives with his wife Frances,
Who is a gracious and lovely Gal.
Now Salvadore is a top notch guy,
He has always been a winner.
So let's go out to his new house,
Say we all just came for dinner.
Two years ago this very week,
We met down in Music City.
We saw a lot of country stars,
But missed seeing Conway Twitty.
We visited the Grand O1e Opry,
Where country music abounds.
Some of our dear Yankee friends,
Never heard such mournful sounds.
Willie Nelson and George Jones,
Mel Tillis and many others.
Were not present on our night,
Along with the Statler Brothers.
We saw Bill Monroe and Roy Acuff,
They both were feeling well.
Allen Jackson and Garth Brooks,
Also Louise and Barbara Mandrell.
Sailed down the Cumberland River,
Rode on General Jackson's boat.
They picked me out to play Elvis,
Sal was just trying to get my goat.
Some thought I favored Elvis,
But I am real proud to say.
I may not sing half as good,
But I'm alive and well today. |

We attended the Ralph Emery show,
Our 275th banner we held up high.
We tried in vain to be recognized,
But we couldn't catch Ralph's eye.
We found out some time later,
Ralph spoke to our friend Pete.
Pete looks like Colonel Sanders,
Who's had a bit too much to eat.
The people from our war-time group
The Two Hundred and Seventy-fifth.
We are no longer in fighting trim,
We've just grown too old and stiff
We had great fun in Nashville,
At our reunions we always do.
But the nicest thing about them,
Is to see old friends like you.
In time of war the 275th,
Was strictly lean and mean.
Now in our much later years,
We make a great reunion team.
We once were faithful soldiers,
And if someone starts a fight.
We will try hard to do our part,
But we won't stay up at night.
Chester's Saga of the 275th
Is a really outstanding epic.
If he had known it was so good,
He probably would have kept it.
We appreciate his sharing it,
It tells a real great story.
About the fighting 275th,
And all it's war time glory.
This will be our tenth reunion,
We hope there can be ten more.
Before we stand our final Retreat,
On Heaven's bright golden shore. |
