Here's what I thought about the books in the Wishbone Mysteries series.

Each month, I'll pick a mystery book, show a picture of the book, summarize it, and write a reveiw.

This month's mystery:

#1: The Treasure of Skeleton Reef

By Brad Strickland and Thomas E. Fuller

Summary: Joe, Ellen, Wanda, and Wishbone are off to the coast to visit Wanda's rich cousin, Rhonda. While staying in Rhonda's massive house, Joe discovers an old diary and a mysterious poem about the wreck of the Mad Mary by the nearby Skeleton Reef lighthouse. Though Christy, Joe's newfound friend, informs Joe that the treasure mentioned in the poem is just a myth, Joe is determined to find it. But when he arrives at the lighthouse for a look around, a creepy old man scares him away with frightening warnings of doom. And to make matters worse, Wanda has decided to help the Historical Society renovate the old lighthouse. Unfortunately, though, it's going to cost them $250,000. Paying that much would bankrupt the Society, but if they don't get the money by September 1, the lighthouse will be destroyed. It looks like it's up to Joe and Wishbone to find the treasure and save the day.

My rating: 8.5 out of 10

Why: The book had a good plot, and I liked the introduction of new characters (Rhonda, Christy). At times I got a little lost, but I probably wasn't reading very closely. Part of the mystery, like the sailors and the ship wrecks, just didn't interest me. I'm not into that kind of stuff.

If you like ships, treasure, the sea, and sailing, then this book is for you!
