Who's Wishbone?
The other day, I realized that some people may be coming to this page who don't know about Wishbone for some reason or another. So here's where you can get the facts.
- So what exactly is Wishbone, anyway?
Wishbone is a public television show all about the world's only literature-loving canine.
- What are the shows about?
Part of the show involves Wishbone the dog having adventures with his friends in the city of Oakdale. (For more information on the characters, click here.) Then Wishbone imagines himself in a piece of classic literature. It's often tied in with the Oakdale story.
- Could you give me an example?
Sure. Consider the episode The Pawloined Paper. Wishbone's owner and best buddy, Joe, has a crush on his history teacher. When he writes her a love note, though, it accidentally gets intercepted by Curtis, the class bully. Curtis has plans to make the note public and embarrass Joe forever - so it's up to Joe and Wishbone to get it back. Meanwhile, Wishbone imagines himself as the great Detective Dupin in Edgar Allen Poe's The Purloined Letter. The Queen receives a letter that could cause problems for her in the future, and it - like Joe's letter - is stolen. Dupin must get it back and save the Queen.
- How long has this show aired?
Wishbone debuted on October 9, 1995.
