The Rocky Shore
1999
An Internet Project For K - 3
Classes
About This
Project.
Co ordinator: Shirley Crawford
Address: Hikutaia School
RD 4
Paeroa
New Zealand
E Mail: whispa@wave.co.nz
Project Dates: February to May 1999.
During 1997 my Year Two and
Three Class participated
in four online projects with schools in America. Being part of those
projects was a rewarding experience, both for the children in my
class and for myself.
The Rocky Shore project has been
designed to give ten classes
of K - 3 children the opportunity to show case their work on the
world wide web.
As part of the project, web pages
have been set up to provide teachers and young children with internet
resource activities about the Rocky Shore.
Teachers will need Internet Access
and E mail.
Each participating class will have
their own web page. Teachers can either Snail Mail or E Mail
children's work to the above address.
All art work, writing, photos etc
to be forwarded to the co ordinator by Snail Mail or E Mail before
the end of May 1999. As work is received it will be displayed on the
web. All classes will be notified by E Mail as soon as work goes
online.
I have access to a scanner and a
digital camera. Photos of children's art work may be sent in to be
scanned and put online.
It is envisaged that teachers /
classes, select three or four pieces of art work to be displayed on
their class web page and that all children from each class contribute
some writing about the Rocky Shore. The writing may be a simple
recount of a trip to the beach, poetry, an imaginative story or
factual writing related to creatures studied. It is teachers choice!

project drop me a line.
