[The Voice Behind the Bounce! Paul Winchell]

Paul Winchell is best loved by many people as the voice of Tigger in the Disney movie, The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh and the TV show The New Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh. In case you are wondering, the reason why Tigger himself could not do the voice of himself in these, it was because there were Union restrictions on the hours he could work, and he kept bouncing into the microphone, which made recording difficult. But Mr. Winchell spent much time with Tigger, and you can be sure that the voice you hear of Tigger is exactly what Tigger sounds like. If you have had the good fortune to have spoken to Tigger personally, you can hear that the similarity is quite striking!

Mr. Winchell has done much more than the voice of Tigger, though. In fact, he is perhaps the best known and loved ventriloquist. At least four generations of people know and love his work. Why not ask your friends, aunts, uncles, older siblings, parents and grandparents about what he has done that they love the best! Besides Tigger, Mr. Winchell has been on the Smurfs (Gargamel), The Beverly Hillbillies, and, of course, Winchell/Mahoney Time. He has also had guest appearances on such shows as The Lucy Show, Laugh-In and What's My Line.

Besides bringing joy to people's hearts, Mr. Winchell even invented an artificial heart!

You can wish Mr. Winchell a happy birthday on December 21st! How fun! His birthday is a palindrome! A palindrome is a string of numbers or letters that is the same backwards and forwards (his birthday is 12/21).

As you can see, this page is just getting started. If you would like more information about Paul Winchell, please see his official site.
