Sam & Grandpa had just come inside & Gran said they looked like the front fence!!! they had paint all over them, green & cream... Sarah went & got her camera & took a photo of them both before they went & had a shower to clean up! After tea, they sat down by the winter's fire
& while they waited for Gran to come & read them the next chapter of "What Colour is Love?" Sarah showed Sam all the different shades of mauve & purple that she had found on the Paint Colour charts....15 altogether!
Gran came & sat down with the book... "What's your favourite colour, Sam?" she asked. "Blue," he replied.
"Well this chapter must be for you!" she smiled.
Kate & Justin were rushing around the house getting ready for school. Kate was trying to find her ballet shoes for dancing this afternoon, & Justin had lost his ball
for soccer practice. They were supposed to return their excursion (field trip) note
to school today, but WHERE had they put them last night? When they were finally all in the car
& heading off to school, Kate suddenly let out a great wail.... "Oh no! I've left my lunch
on the bench." Grim-faced
, Mummy turned the car around & drove back home. Kate ran in the back door to get her lunch & tripped over Scruffy
the dog. She fell flat on her face on the floor as the dog yelped & barked. When Mum & Justin came running in to see what the commotion was, they saw Kate, in a heap on the floor, with blood streaming from her mouth. As Mummy washed her face clean, she saw that Kate has broken half of her front tooth off as well.
"Well," said Mum, "this IS a blue start to the day!" I guess we're just too busy rushing around everywhere. I'll ring Mr. Wilson, the dentist, 'cause this tooth needs some urgent attention straight away, Kate."
Some time later, after they has dropped Justin off late to school, Mum & a teary Kate were sitting in the Dentist's Waiting room. There was a Bible storybook on the book table & Mummy picked it up.It fell open at the middle page & Mummy started to read it out to Kate.
It said.... "And Jesus went to a nearby village to the home of Mary & Martha. Martha welcomed him into their home & fussed around to make their guest comfortable. She started to prepare a delicious meal for them, but her sister, Mary just sat down on the floor, at Jesus' feet & listened to His wise teaching. Martha was getting madder & madder at her sister for not coming out to help her, so she started to bang the pots & pans, hoping that Mary might get the message & come & give a hand.
Imagine her embarrassment when not Mary, but Jesus himself came out to the kitchen. He looked at her & said, "Martha, you are fussing & rushing around & worrying about everything. Mary has the right idea... just slow down a bit & come & spend some time with me, then we'll get something to eat later. Stop & think about what is really important!"
Mummy looked at Kate, "Sounds just like us this morning, doesn't it? I'm sure God doesn't want all our days to turn out frantic & blue. Perhaps we need a bit of balance in our life, so we've got time for each other & for the things that really matter." And just as she gave Kate a hug, the Dentist opened the door.
