Poppy and Hue are best friends who just happen to be beetle bug boys. Beetle bug boys, like human boys, love adventure. So when a human boy leaves his toy castle near their garden home, Poppy and Hue can't resist exploring it. They are so busy playing, they don't notice when the boy returns. Trapped inside, they are carried to a strange house where they meet new friends and face adventures and dangers beyond their wildest dreams.
Beetle Bug Adventures is a delightful tale of two friends in a scary situation. The characters of Hue and Poppy are likable and believable. Human children will identify with their adventure, with their excitement when they explore the castle, and their fear when the adventure suddenly goes wrong. Beetle Bug Adventures is just exciting enough to hold the interest of young readers, but not so scary as to threaten nightmares. Children will enjoy the beetle boys' adventures (imagine nearly being run down by a toy car!) Parents will enjoy the lovely descriptions of the beetle boys' garden and cute details like Poppy's father sitting down to read "The Daily Bug."
Though the story was too simple for my ten year-old, my seven year-old enjoyed reading Beetle Bug Adventures and so did I. The illustrations are adorable, the story cute and fast-paced. I highly recommend this book for children 5-9 and their parents.

Eight-year-old Andrea has just taken her first ballet lesson. Her father, knowing the value of art in a child's life, wonders how he can help her keep up her interest in dance.
Ten-year-old Brian has had three violin lessons, and so far he likes them a lot. What can I do, his mother asks herself, to make sure he doesn't get bored and quit, as she knows most children eventually do.
For the millions of moms and dads facing the dilemma of the parents of Andrea and Brian, Michael's Drawing, a new E-book by Jennifer L.B. Leese, should prove to be encouraging reading.
Like many boys and girls his age, Michael loves to draw. What makes him special is the serious, intelligent way he pursues his craft.
Michael has a special place where he works on a regular basis, as every artist, no matter how old, ought to have. He is meticulous about his tools, and conscientiously keeps track of his progress, sticking his pictures up on the door of the refrigerator so that he can check how far he has come--and dream about how far he might go.
Michael's Drawing is a serenely upbeat book. We see how drawing makes Michael feel good about himself. It also helps him in his relationships with others. The grown-ups in Michael's life naturally respond to his love for drawing by saying and diong the right things to nurture his belief in himself and his love for art.
Without sounding preachy, Michael's Drawing conveys a wealth of good advice for creative artists of all ages: Be patient. Be persistent. Trust Yourself. Start Small, knowing the end is promised in the beginning.
In the climax of Michael's Drawing we enjoy seeing Michael win recognition for his hard work. But the most important lesson here is that the work is its own reward: the true payoff comes more in the doing than in what is done.
Children who are close to Michael's age will enjoy sharing his ambition and adventures, and grown-ups will appreciate the book's steady, warm reminder of the truth that art can be a rich source of good in a child's life.
As well as in the life of all of us.
Michael's Drawing is designed to appeal mainly to 3rd-grade level readers. It is illustrated by the author and her husband, Thomas W.C. Leese.

Poppy and Hue, two beetle bugs, are the best of friends. They love adventures and exploring the unknown. Their curiosity can sometimes cause a problem, but that doesn't stop them. These buggy boys just want to have some fun.
I really liked this story and think other kids will too. My favorite part was when Nicholas, one of the human boys in the book, picked up his toy (a castle) and carried it to a friend's house with Poppy and Hue in it! The two beetle bugs were scared and unsure of how they were going to get home.
I also liked the animated pictures, even though they were a bit small, and wished there were more of them.
This e-book was definitely kinda' neat and I'm waiting for the next adventure!

Sounds I Hear - Jennifer L. B. Leese. Today was my
baby’s 16th birthday. He was born way too soon for
e-books, but he would have LOVED this delightful book
of rhymes, sound clips & animation. I’m sure I would
have enjoyed reading it to him! Reading this book is
fun for both parents and children. There are lots of
sounds to make while reading to your youngster or lots
of sounds for them to make. There is also a bit of
animation on each page that will keep children’s
attention focused. It’s been a long time since I
read a book for young children and I thoroughly
enjoyed reading this one, which relates sounds heard
in a car, a plane, a backyard, a grocery store, the
park and the child’s bedroom as he goes to bed. I
especially liked the page with the boy playing in the
park. This is Ms. Leese’s second children’s e-book.
Her first, Beetle Bug Adventures, is also available

"Sounds I Hear," by Jennifer L.B. Leese is a treasure. Your children will be captivated by the many sounds and animations Jennifer has composed in this wonderful Children's Storybook. Whether taking a trip on an airplane or riding in a slug bug, your child will be captured from the first moment and held enraptured till the end. Better order two. I'm afraid your child may wear the first disk out.

Poppy and Hue are beetle bug boys who love adventure. On one fine day of exploring, they get more than they bargained for. Poppy's dad has warned them never to venture outside the Gardenville gates so how do they wind up so far from family and home?

Poppy and Hue are the best of friends but instead of being humans, they are beetle bugs. They have adventures exploring Gardenville, where they live. One day they had a big adventure. They were in the human boy Nicholas' castle and Nicholas took them to his friend's house. They had a whole new world to explore and even made some new friends.
Even though Poppy and Hue enjoyed their big adventure, they were happy to be home. Their parents were happy to see them too because they were worried about them.
This adventuresome story is one that, even though it is recommended for third graders, would be enjoyed by children of all ages. I read it to my 5 year old daughter and she was entranced by the whole story. We both thoroughly enjoyed the story.

My young daughter and I thoroughly enjoy reading Jennifer Leese's
MICHAEL'S DRAWINGS. The book is bright and colorful. The pictures are adorable.
Michael is an artist who finds out that practice makes perfect. He draws for pleasure. His mother and his father encourage him to do his best when he draws. They give him color pencils, a drawing pad and lots of encouragement. He's given a school assignment to draw a neighborhood picture. He decides to do his best and the teacher hangs the drawings the class had made up for all to see.

book explains what going to the doctor for a physical entails.
I was especially impressed with the little dictionary of words used in the

I believe if every parent read this book to their child before a doctor's

Michael loves drawing in the sketchbook his father bought for
him. In school one day, the teacher tells the class to draw
a picture of the neighborhood where they lived. Michael liked

Pat: Mason is starting pre-school and that means a trip to
the doctor for a physical. He is alittle scared, so he asks
his dad what is going to happen. His dad assures Mason that
the physical won't hurt and he has nothing to be scared of.
When Mason meets the nurse and doctor, he discovers they are
nice people and both take the time to make his first visit a
pleasant one. This book provides an excellent way to prepare
a child for that first visit to the doctor. It explains several
instruments and their purposes as well as providing links to
websites where parent and child can explore and discover how
the body works.
Shelby: I liked this story alot. I'm in the second grade, so
I've already been to the doctor, but this is a good story for
anyone who hasn't been there. I really liked the links at the
end. On one website, grandma and I went to, it explained how
organs in the body worked. That was great cause now I sort of
understand about grandma's diabetes. (THAT threw me for a loop!-
Pat) Grandma took us to another website and it explained
why she has to take those icky shots everyday. I'm very glad
to have read this story, cause it helped me ask grandma some

"Sweet Erotica: Anthology of Erotic Short Stories" is a 33-page collection
of six erotic tales by Brooks Lynn, the author of the Erotic Dreams
newsletter.
"Our Evening Out" is my favorite story of the collection. Beginning with a
very hot account of self-gratification and moving on to an incredible
shower scene, this story shows the author at her best.
"Lustful Morning" takes us for a horny ride with a couple who can't keep
their hands off of each other, even when the car is moving. Nice
descriptions of automotive and outdoor sex.
Overall, I'd say that this collection of erotic stories definitely lives up
to its title. The stories are short, sweet and erotic, but somehow I still
feel that their potential is greater than what's presented.
Lynn is a good writer, with a genuine feel for erotica, but she almost
seems to be marketing her work for a Penthouse Letters audience and I think
she's more talented than that. I'd like to see her work longer and deeper,
taking the time and the space to fully flesh out her characters and story
lines.

Poppy woke up excited. His best friend Hue's family and his family are going on a picnic. Even though he can't wait to get the day started, Poppy doesn't forget to put on his favorite blue and white adventure shoes before heading downstairs.
The two families have a great time at the picnic playing games. Eventually Poppy and Hue go for a walk, but then they get lost. They discover a spider's web and hope he's not too close. The spider does hear the boys, but stops a few moments to make sure they aren't mean and that won't hurt him. When the spider explains, the boys confess that they were thinking the same about the spider!
The spider teaches the boys more about spiders on the way back to their families. When Poppy heard his class would be learning about spiders at school, his friend, Stanley, said that spiders were the scariest and most dangerous bugs out there. Now Poppy knows what his first question would be.
THE BEETLE BUG ADVENTURES are always a lot of fun, and this newest edition is certainly no exception. Jennifer Leese has a talent for writing for young children, choosing just the right subjects to both educate and entertain. The artwork is delightful, especially the spider! Highly recommended.

From an illicit tryst between a security guard and a student at a home for delinquent girls to a chance meeting one night at a bar, Erotic Pleasures Collection of Erotic Short Stories by Brooks Lynn covers all of that, and more. The eight stories presented leave no stone unturned and no secret or secret pleasure buried, and leaves the reader asking for more. My personal favorite was a sensual anniversary celebration that leads to a romantic trip to Ireland and to a stay in an old castle. The characters fulfill not only the physical need but a long term dream of one of the characters. Romance and Erotica have never been such compelling partners then in this story. But if you're looking for something a little more hard core and less romantic, you'll also find it among the pages of this book.
This collection is a book that can be enjoyed alone or in the company of a special companion, and leaves this single female wishing she had someone to share it with. Fantasy is the name of the game, and the author is successfully moving towards a win. The very short format of these stories left something to be desired though in some of the offerings. Call me old fashioned, but even in my erotic pursuits I want to know a little bit more about the characters and their naughty peccadilloes. But over all, I would recommend this book, with a hearty and resounding YEEEEEESSSS!

This book is a big help in explaining to children what the first visit to

Mason is going to the dentist for the very first time and he is more than a
little nervous. With the help of his parents, the dentist and others, Mason
discovers that the dentist visit is not so frightening as he had anticipated.
While I don't think this book will work as well in the Kindergarten/First
Grade levels due to the fact that there are few illustrations and the
language is a little advanced for tiny tots to read alone, the book should
have value in the school setting. Ebooks do not lend themselves to whole room
reading time as easily as do print books, however I do believe teachers of 2d
and 3d grades will be able to use this particular work to advantage as they
look for materials to add to their 'dental unit.' In situations especially
where little guys and an 'older' student tutor work together in the classroom
the book should fit right into the program with the 2d or 3d grader reading
the story to the K or 1 grade kiddo.
The book is well written and presents dental health concepts in a manner
children will understand. I like the glossary of terms at the end of the
book, and the page of links so children may 'surf the net' for similar and
added materials.

I'm awarding this 5 Stars because not only did I stand up and applaud
after
I read it, but most children's books are often overlooked in the deluge
of
electronic offerings, and this is one that shouldn't be. Author Jennifer
B. Leese and her micro-world of "beetle bugs" is a well-written,
beautifully illustrated (cool cover art and illustrations art by Susan
Bodendorfer, Thom Leese, and Michael Brooks) winner for kids from top to
bottom. The book is (please forgive me, but I have to say it) CUTE AS A
BUG. Not only is it cute, but it teaches kids important moral lessons
about stuff they'll need to know to get along in this world, lessons such
as the importance of giving the other guy a break, or overcoming prejudice
to see the goodness in someone.
This episode is about a couple of childhood pals, Poppy and Hue, and the
goings on in their village of --you guessed it--little talking beetles,
who
wash their dishes in walnut shell sinks and enjoy playing "bug ball", a
game with rules against catching the ball with three legs. It's a place
peopled (or should I say "bugged") with responsible parents and respectful
but sometimes mischevious children. Poppy and Hue get lost while on a
picnic and stumble onto the (forgive me again, but the book has left me
feeling childish) "website" of the second most dangerous creature in their
world (humans naturally being the first) --a big, ugly, lonely spider. It
turns out his name is Wally and he's got a serious public relations
problem
stemming from the fact that HE EATS INSECTS. However, Wally, in spite of
his need to feed on beetles, manages to befriend Poppy and Hue and hold
off
on his latent desire to chow down on the little fellers (or should I say
"feelers"). Wally's a bit mysterious, like evil itself. The story
doesn't
indicate for certain Wally will never eat beetles, up to and including
Poppy and Hue, but for the time being, they'll all try to get along on
Sundays. Sound a bit like a good way to solve the crisis in the Middle
East?
Author Jennifer L. B. Leese deftly draws our children into a world where
love and nurturing exists and close family ties and simple pleasures
prevail. It's also a world not unlike our own, requiring a sober bravery
to
exist because sudden calamity (instant death by crushing) is an ever
present threat. BEETLE BUG ADVENTURES: THE CAVE was just doggone
delightful. It's for kids, but I must confess, I had a ball with it, too.
You'll definitely want to add this to your kids' collection of stuff.

Mason is going to his first dentist appointment. Even the bravest of

Hillard's office, Mason's mother tries to dispel some of the fears Mason
has, but it is not until Mason gets to see and talk with the hygienist and
Dr. Hillard himself, that his fears subside.
The technicality of this book could be a drawback to some, but for those
parents who would like to share a thorough explanation of what might go on
during a dental appointment with their child, this book is great. A good
explanation of tools and procedures works well in taking the mystery out of
the unknown for Mason, and perhaps any youngster awaiting their first visit
to the dentist.
Cheerful descriptions of the surroundings in the dentist's office
contribute to easing the tensions in Mason's mind. By the time his visit is
over, and Mason has his new dinosaur toothbrush in hand, and a young
preschooler has another of life's mysterious situations behind him.
A great addition to the book is the glossary of terms and a wonderful list

good resource for parents anticipating their child's first visit to the

Mason Goes to the Doctor is basically a how-to book on exactly that
subject. Mason is getting ready for pre-school and must go for a

Mason's dad takes him to the doctor, answering his questions along the

Mason is a little apprehensive about going. So Mason is full of
questions.
Once he's there, he is quickly captivated by the pictures on the wall,
and the nice way the nurse Ann explains the procedure to him. Some of
the words are a little over his head, but the fact that she explains it
to him reassures him that this will not be a bad experience.
The doctor does the same, by explaining each and every procedure, Mason
is able to understand and have less fear.
A good book for parents and children to read. Perhaps the parent might

Mason Goes To The Dentist is a great little how-to book for children.
It exemplifies how both parent and child should act and prepare for such
a trip.
Mason is on his first trip to the dentist. But he's armed well. He's
been prepared for this trip by his parents, in a very possitive way.
They've read to him, and answered his questions. Mom's going with him
on his first trip and he's both excited and little apprehensive.
However, Mason soon learns there is no reason for the apprehension as
the dental assistant and dentist answer all his questions, explain every
procedure and even demonstrate and show him their tools. This makes
Mason relax more since he knows what to expect.
Hi mom answers all his questions and he's really into the bubble gum
toothpaste. It's Mason's positive attitude that makes this story and
the helpful answers he gets from all the adults.
I recommend this book to all first timers because your first trip to a
dentist or a doctor should be positive and helps create a better
relationship as time goes by. Mason Goes to the Dentist is delightfully
enlightening and a great preparer for that first excursion. The book
has a small dictionary with terms and links to even more fun activities
on line.
Perhaps parents should read this one too, so they will know how they
should act and help their child prepare. Great little read!

it will also make the adult parent pay more attention. In a rhyme and
through the child's eyes and ears we hear all kinds of noises.
We go from a car trip, to an airplane, to the backyard, to the grocery
store, the park and the bedroom. This book will delight children with
it's clever animation's, cute childlike rhythm and discovering the most
interesting of sounds that a lot of us tend to take for granted.
Wonderfully original, with all kinds of added delights, this one is a
winner for sure with both parents and children. Jennifer L.B. Leese
outdid herself here and also acknowledgment to the publisher here for
it's added benefits. Bravo!!!

A truly delightful book filled with fun adventures of Poppy and Hue, two fun loving "beetle boys".
Her descriptions are beautifully done and filled with magic. She brings her readers into Poppy and Hue's world and gives the children a new world to discover. I really got a kick out of the adventure of the two beetle boys finding a coin and the rolling of the big "silver" thing.
I enjoyed Mr. Earthworm, Hue, Missy and all the rest. But most of all, I adored Poppy and Hue. These two beetle boys, reminded me of my own son and his friends having adventures, just not in Gardenville.
Parents and children will have fun with this book and will be able to share giggles as they read the story together.

Hue and Poppy are beetle bug boys who like to explore and go on adventures. First they find a huge silver thing (a coin) and then they end up visiting some other bugs when they're caught in a human toy for a day.
BEETLE BUG ADVENTURES is appropriate for 6-9 year age group. My 5 year-old wasn't very interested, but 8 year-old enjoyed the fact the bugs 'got into trouble'. However... the beetle bug boys' adventure will interest like-minded human boys (and girls!). Ms. Leese has the makings of a first rate children's storyteller, just as soon as she gets the 'bugs' worked out!

Two beetle bug boys, Poppy and Hue, live in a small flower garden at Nicholas' house. Together the beetle bug boys formed a club called Beetle Bug Adventures. Their mission is to explore all parts of Gardenville and beyond.
One day the boys find a heavy, giant silver treasure. It has a human head on one side and an eagle on the other. So off they go to ask Mr. Earthworm, who used to be an explorer, about their new treasure.
Another day the boys are playing in Nicholas' toy castle when it's picked up and moved. Now the boys have to find a way home again before they are caught and put in a jar. But in the mean time, they meet new friends and have more fascinating adventures.
BEETLE BUG ADVENTURES is a richly imaginative, fun tale perfect for young readers, or for parents to read to their children at bedtime. This reviewer certainly looks forward to more fun adventures with the beetle boys.

I highly enjoyed this story written by Jennifer Leese. She tells a tale that all children will be able to associate with and at the same time, giggle and have fun with. The book is filled with animated illustrations that are fantastic, and really give the story more fun for kids.
