So, the big day's almost
here, and you haven't got a thing to wear?
BOX
COSTUMES
These are simple, but really nice. All
you need to start is a good-sized box;
microwave box, computer or monitor box,
etc; as long as it's a box that is large
enough to cover your torso, but not so
large that you'll have difficulty walking.
~A Pair of Dice~
(Note: ask a parent or
adult family member to cut out the holes)
Two people, one can wear a black shirt
and black pants,
the other can wear white shirt, white
pants.
Paint 2 boxes white, allow to dry overnight.
Turn the box upside down, cut the flaps
off.
Cut out a large hole in the top for your
head to fit through,
Have a parent or friend measure for the
armholes before cutting those out.
Then, either cut big circles from black
construction paper,
or paint the black spots on your "dice".
And that's it! You can be a pair of dice!
~~~
~A Gift~
Again, you'll need a large box. Ask a
grownup to cut out the hole
in the upside-down box for your head
and to measure and cut out the
armholes. Take a jumbo size roll of giftwrap,
and carefully "wrap" the
box like a gift, taping edges where necessary.
You can wear clothing to match
the colors of your giftwrap. For an extra
touch, tie a large bow onto your head.
~~~
You could also use a box to be a television
set, a radio,
a robot, a LEGO brick...the possibilities
for box costumes are endless!
Just use a little imagination, and who
knows?

ANOTHER
COSTUME IDEA
~A Bunch of Grapes~
Buy a big package of purple balloons,
a box of safety pins,
and some green construction paper.
You'll need a paper plate, too.
Turn the paper plate upside-down,
punch holes at the side edges of the
plate,
and thread a piece of yarn on each side,
so that you can tie the plate onto your
head.
Cut out some grape leaves, using the
green paper,
and glue the leaves onto the top of the
upside-down plate.
Then,
Inflate the balloons, then have a grownup
carefully pin the
balloons all over your clothes, to resemble
a bunch of grapes.
