Jordan's JDMS Diary

December 1998

Tuesday - December 1
The only one with sore muscles around here is me! I've spent today and yesterday decorating the schools. I love the Christmas season, but not until all the decorating and gift wrapping is done. haha
Wednesday - December 2
Jordan played 4 square today after lunch and sprang her ankle. I hope it doesnt give her much trouble.
Thursday - December 3
I had to leave early this morning to go to Austin for Jen's basketball tournament. Between games, I shopped for the girls. Jordan is hard to buy clothes for. Her waist is about a little girls size 10 but in pants, they are about 4-5 inches too long. I've been buying her elastic waisted pants but she wants jean or carpenter pants (the lastest fashion around here) and they dont come with elastic waistlines. She down to taking only one teaspoon of Prelone, but I dont know when she's get her figure back.
Friday - December 4
Another day in Austin. Joe and Jordan drove up tonight. Jordan was worried about spending the night at her uncles. She fears not being able to sleep in a bed and alone. She brought her heating pad. She ended up sleeping in a twin bed and did fine.
Saturday - December 5
We watch Jen play at 8:30 this morning, drove home, took a nap and began decorating the house. Jordan just couldn't wait but she didnt really help much. Her ankle is still sore. She has been walking slow on it. We got an ace bandage the other day, but she doesnt wear it all the time. I hope it gets better before Monday. We see Dr. C on Monday. I cant wait! I really want to see the lab results for the past 2 months!!
Sunday - December 6
Monday - December 7
Dr. C was so surprised, he surprised me. It never occured to me that he didn't believe that Jordan was going to return to normal. It never entered my mind that he didnt know for sure that she was going to get well. Well, thank God, she is getting well. Everyday she looks better and better. He lab work continues to return with normal results. She looks and feels great! She says she feels normal again. Her little face is gradually losing that puffiness and she is looking more and more like our Jordan. She has even been able to get into some jeans that haven't fit for quite some time. Dr. C reduced her Prelone again by 1 ml. She is now taking less than half a teaspoon which is considerably less than the 4 teaspoons we started with. I did mention that I was concerned about her forhead looking irratated occasionally. To me it looks like tiny little pimples. My husband said thinks that since I mention it, Dr. C thought he'd play it safe and decided to give her the extra tablet of Methotrexate. He did reduce her physcial therapy to once every other week. He even said she may not need any therapy, but we'll start with this and she if she stays strong. Anyway, I'm not too concerned about the medication increase or her forehead. I know that she is in God's hands and she will have a complete recovery. She believes that too.
Tuesday - December 8
Wednesday - December 9
Thursday - December 10
I left for Clear Lake, near Houston. Two mothers rode with me to watch the girls play basketball in a tournament. I did some Christmas shopping between games.
Friday - December 11
Watched games and shopped. Jordan and Joe arrived about 9:00 pm. We went out for dinner with a few other parents. Then we took a trip to the mall again. Jordan played with one of the players little sister. The little girl is only a year older than Jordan, but she is about a foot taller. They had a great time together.
Saturday - December 12
After the game, we all went to the Space Center, due to Jordans encouragement. The coaches let Jordan get to their soft spot, so they agreed and paid the whole teams way in. Some of the parents went along too. Jordan went wild. She was all over the place. It wasnt very busy, so she got to play on everything.
Sunday - December 13
Monday - December 14
Jordan is still doing very well at school.
Tuesday - December 15
Jordan and I delivered cookies to the PT's at the clinic. The sweets didnt get to them too much. They had Jordan work out pretty hard today. She is getting stronger and stronger!
Wednesday - December 16
Thursday - December 17
Friday - December 18
Saturday - December 19
We went to Troy to have Christmas with Joe's family. The highways seem to get worse and worse. So many people going places.
Sunday - December 20
We had a very nice Christmas with Joe's family. All of his brothers and their wives made it and almost all the married grandchildren. Joe's father looks really good.
Monday - December 21
Tuesday - December 22
Wednesday - December 23
Thursday - December 24
This was the first Christmas morning Joey wasnt with us. Even though the girls enjoyed what "Santa" brought, it didn't quite feel as pleasurable. By the way, both girls know that Santa only visits those that believe, so they make sure we think they do. (hahaha) Jordan did state that she thought Santa should still bring gifts for Joey. When questioned about Tammy, (his wife), Jordan thought that she should go to her parents home for her Santa. haha Joey and Tammy both arrived about 9:00 am and we had a wonderful breakfast. Jordan loves to have formal dinners with formal dinnerware, so I made sure the table was set last night. After breakfast we all exchanged gifts. We had a great time. For the next few hours, I washed their new clothes so that they could wear them while visiting my mother. We left about 3:30 for Temple.
Friday - December 25
My sister and her family arrived early today. Jordan loves visiting her children. They are so special to her. She has three girls, Tori,11, Brittney,10, Haley,8 and twin boys Trever and Treves who are 6. They live 6 hours away from us, so it seems unbearable for Jordan at times. She cant wait to be with them. Both of my brothers and their families made it later in the afternoon. We exchanged gifts and had a nice dinner and visit. My mother has 15 grandchildren, so the house was full of joyful noise.
Saturday - December 26
Today was a very tough day for me. It went well until I went to pick up Jordan who had went with my sister to visit her in-laws for Christmas. She and all my sisters kids began begging me to let Jordan go to Longview with them. I said no I dont know how many times. They just didnt listen. They just kept begging. They even had signs posted on the front porch and door pleading with me. Jordan has only spent 2 nights away from me or Joe. I've had to go on business trips and he's been hunting or with his father when he was in the hospital, but she is always with one of us. The only exceptions were once with my parents when she was about 9 months old while Joe and I went to Las Vegas and another time at a girl scout sleepover. I was a nervous wreck both times. Sound crazy? Well maybe I am.....but I just cant let go of my babies. But today, she got to me. Tears were flowing from her little cheeks. She wanted to stay with them longer. I gave in. How could I resist such pleads. She had been so sick before, she didnt want me out of her sight. Now she is so much better, she wants to do everything. After I agreed, she begged me not to cry. She promised to take her medicine and not to over do it. She promised she would be fine. I didnt cry. I knew she wanted to go more than anything else she could have asked for. I prayed.
Sunday - December 27
No sleep. I miss her so much. I called to make arrangements to meet them half way Tuesday. I hope I can make it til then.
Monday - December 28
Very little sleep. I'm trying.
Tuesday - December 29
Finally, I get to see my baby girl. She ran to the car before I could get the door open. She hugged me so hard, I think she missed me as much as I missed her. The 9:30 am to 8:30 pm drive was well worth it.
Wednesday - December 30
Jordan went to work with me. She thinks she wants a perm. I'm trying to talk her out of it. Her hair is so pretty the way it is.
Thursday - December 31
After work, we ordered pizza, watched a movie and popped fireworks. When you're with your children, the simplest things can make you happy. We are so very happy and thankful. I hope you all have a great New Year!
